Hotwire Hotel: 4.5* Chicago (Magnificent Mile Area - River North) InterContinental Chicago

I'm assuming this hotel is the Intercontinental but I'm new to this so I'm not exactly sure. The dates I'm looking at are 12/30-1/1 and it is showing up as $106 per night for a 4.5 star. It seems like a great deal to me. The amentities shown are:

Pet Friendly

Pools

Indoor Pools

Restaurants

Smoke-Free Rooms

Business Center

Fitness Center

Internet Access

Accessible for the blind

It showed up as 108 on this website and 106 on the Hotwire website but I believe its the same hotel,

Would it be a good idea to try bidding on this hotel at a cheaper price on PRICELINE instead of buying it for $106 through HOTWIRE?

If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages.

There is no way to bid on PRICELINE for this specific property... if you're willing to accept any 4.5* hotel in the zone then you can try for a lower price by bidding on PRICELINE, if you're trying to target this particular property then HOTWIRE would be a better (although often slightly more expensive) option.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

You could start at $80 and work higher by $5's at the 4.5* level. The Intercontinental is probably the most likely result, but I don't think there's a bad 4.5* in the bunch in the NMA area. Let us know if you have any questions before bidding.

Started out at $90 and it told me to increase my bid to $116 which I did not do since on the express page I can get a 4 1/2 star for $109, but I have not booked anything yet. Are these hotels usually the same (the ones you bid on and the ones available in the express deals)?

The hotels on the Express Deals side are not in every case the hotels on the bidding or retail side and vice versa.

If you got a counter-offer at $116, that does not mean that that is the required bid. The required bid is between $90 and $116 and could be much closer to $90.

Ended up just booking it on HOTWIRE from 12/30-1/1 for $106 a night and it was the InterContinental, seems like a good deal to me especially for New Years Eve! Thanks!

Great deal for NYE at this property.

I would definitely suggest calling the hotel and asking if there was any way you could possibly get a high floor room facing East towards the lake. If you were able to get even a partial view, you may be able to get some portion of a view of the fireworks at Navy Pier on NYE from your room.

You never know, they may say no, but if there was anyway you could get even a partial view towards Navy Pier where the fireworks are, that would be definite win.
