biltritewave Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 Looking at a 5* Hotel in Westminster, Victoria, Big Ben from Dec 26 to December 31st for 215 a night. Amenities show Free Internet, Smoke Free Rooms, Restaurants, and Self Service laundry. I think this is the 41 Hotel but not 100% sure. Appreciate the help.
thereuare Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 Please follow-up your Hotwire Ithaca thread with whatever you ended up doing for that trip (as well as conclude your Hotwire Washington DC thread with the information requested)... then reply to this thread and we will have a look at the offer above.Thanks. biltritewave Posted October 14, 2013 Author Report Posted October 14, 2013 Done. Thanks for having a look.
thereuare Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 I'm not currently seeing this property offered when searching HOTWIRE for your dates... are you still seeing the above on your own search? If so, are you searching HOTWIRE for more than one room or for more than the default 2adults/0children? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. biltritewave Posted October 14, 2013 Author Report Posted October 14, 2013 Interesting. I am not seeing it anymore either. I see a 5 star in the same area for $205 with the only amenity listed as a Restaurant? Is this the Intercontinental?edit: just realized when I did the original search I had it set for two rooms. It shows up there. I am only looking for one and when doing that HOTWIRE shows only one 5 star, with 95% rating and the only amenity being a restaurant.
thereuare Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 Unfortunately we have not yet seen a 5* hotel with only a Restaurant amenity listed reported to the board, and with just this one amenity (which is likely offered at every 5* hotel in the zone), i don't have any insight into this one. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. biltritewave Posted October 15, 2013 Author Report Posted October 15, 2013 I looked at first day, December 26th-27th, for two hotel rooms, and the same 5 start shows up (as long as I keep it at two rooms). The hotel continues to be listed as a 5 star, 85% approval with 21 reviews, with free internet, non-smoking, restaurant, self service laundry. I think this is the 41 Hotel. Right? If so, could I just hotwire two rooms for one night, and then ask to continue the rate for one room for the rest of the trip. Would that work?
thereuare Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 If so, could I just hotwire two rooms for one night, and then ask to continue the rate for one room for the rest of the trip. Would that work?No...HOTWIRE has a 'add a room' feature but it doesn't work the way you're trying... it allows you to add ONE ROOM for the same dates or a subset of your date range. So using the above as an example, you would need to book one room for 2 nites, then try to add one room for the same nites (or one nite of the two). HOWEVER, notice i highlighted try since not all hotels allow this option, and if when shown, there is no guarantee that HOTWIRE will be able to obtain inventory at the hotel (and if they are if it will be at the same price). You can read more about it here: Hotwire Add a Room FeatureUnfortunately i don't have a guess as to the hotel above, but i don't believe that it is likely the Hotel 41.What is it that you're trying to accomplish by SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID? Do you need a different number of rooms throughout your date range? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know whatever you decide and we'll take it from there. biltritewave Posted October 15, 2013 Author Report Posted October 15, 2013 I wasn't purposely trying to split my bid, but thought it might be an option to get a different hotel than the one listed if you only looked for two nights. I only need one room. If it's not Hotel 41, it is kind of a moot point. I may book the other hotel anyway, but going in blind is a bit nerve wracking :-)Thanks for your help.
thereuare Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 Since SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID appears to be an option, you could see if this same property is offered for the first (or last) nite of your stay and then again for the balance. If so, you could purchase the solo nite in order to 'look behind the curtain'. If you're happy with the results purchase the remaining nites, if not, make alternate plans for the balance of your stay. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. biltritewave Posted October 27, 2013 Author Report Posted October 27, 2013 Need help identifying a 5 star hotel from Dec 26 - Dec 31. Showing for 204 a night with 4 out of 5 on tripadvisor. 5* London, Soho/Mayfair/Picadilly Circus Amenities are :Indoor Pool, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Internet Access, Spa Services. Seems like it could be the Le Meridien or the Waldorf but not 100% sure. Thanks for the help.
biltritewave Posted October 27, 2013 Author Report Posted October 27, 2013 Looks like Waldorf is 4 out of 5 on Tripadvisor and Le Meridien is a 3.5 out of 5 so thinking it is Waldorf but appreciate a second set of eyes.

biltritewave Posted October 29, 2013 Author Report Posted October 29, 2013 I just looked at this again on Hotwire, using the links above, and after I click on the 5 star in Mayfair/Soho, it gives me a hint saying "Book soon! The last person got the Sofitel St James London." I have never seen this before on Hotwire. Is this "hint" usually correct?
