aware1965 Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 Hi,I'm planning on going to Vegas for two weeks basically any time from April 9th (my 21st birthday) to 23rd May (when I have to be back at university) it's only going to be two people going but I wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions on the best time to go (for the cheapest prices), and how much I can expect to have to bid for two weeks. Thanks
thereuare Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding!Since this is a 2 week stay are you willing to change hotels mid-stay OR do you want one hotel for the entire 14 nites? What star rating and expected budget (per nite before fees/taxes) are you seeking? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. aware1965 Posted October 30, 2013 Author Report Posted October 30, 2013 Hello,I think we would prefer one hotel I'm looking for 4 star or higher and as for the budget we aren't really sure I think we would be hoping for £900 ($1446) or lower for the stay but this may be able to be changed depending on how nice the hotel is, I was hoping we would be able to get a good price due to the amount of flexibility we have on dates.Do you have any suggestions on the best dates to go for the cheapest prices and what sort of hotels we should be targetting? Thanks
Romelle Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 Regarding your "cheapest time" question, in Tools is a Las Vegas Checker. And on the Support Page are links to many of the LV hotels. By looking at those, either spans of 2 weeks to get averages, or by individual dates, you can get a good general idea of the higher and lower priced dates. Also, there is a Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins in the Tools area wherein you can see other member's successful PRICELINE and HOTWIRE transactions.Rates can be really variable by date, so you are wise to look at this. I did a random Hotwire search May 1-May 15 for 4-5* hotels on the strip. The low 4* was $63 for a South Strip. The high 5* was $221 for a North Strip. There are differences between Hotwire and Priceline, but my numbers might give you a thinking starting point. You can see what hotels members have reported in the Hotel Lists above. In Tools, you might also like to look at MAPS and HOTELS.com.Romelle
thereuare Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 $1446 total / 14 nites = ~$100/niteTaxes in Vegas are about 11% and you also have a PRICELINE or HOTWIRE booking fee which is going to bring your maximum room rate per nite down to the $75 area. Keep in mind the majority of 4* and higher Las Vegas hotels now also charge resort fees which will be in addition to your room rate and often run ~$25/nite... not sure if you're including this in your total expenditure or not, but over 14 nites this will come to ~$300/nite (which if you're including in your $1400 total rate will quickly reduce that to $1100)As there may be fewer conventions (which is a driving force for Las Vegas hotel rates) around Easter i did a search for April 18-May 2 and see 4* hotels on the Strip for $48/nite (although this is likely for the lesser quality hotels within the star rating)... a 'good' 4* hotel in the Strip North zone can be had for $77/nite.As suggested by Romelle above, if you search HOTWIRE for various 14 nites stays within your date range, does anything appear close to your budget? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
