Priceline Hotel: 4* San Francisco (Financial District-Embarcadero) Le Meridien San Francisco

Picked up this deal last minute, abt. 24 hours prior to check in.

* Began bidding USE+USW+SOMA+Embarcadero @ $150.

* Received a counter offer of $204, and rejected it.

* Rebid in increments of $5.

* Bid accepted at Le Meridien @ $180.

Hotwire deal for Le Meridien was $199, so I knew I could get a little cheaper with Priceline.

Had a backup booking across the street at Club Quarters for $189. But because Priceline has higher fees, total cost ended up being $7 more, but for the vastly superior Le Meridien.

Tried this same booking about a week prior and had no takers up to $215. At the time, my backup res was for the Palace at $242. Club Quarters special didn't exist then.

Been very pleased with Le Meridien. Very nicely furnished hotel. Not as convenient as some of the other Union Square hotels if you are a tourist, but met my needs just fine.

It definitely was last minute. I had about 10 minutes left to cancel my room at the Club Quarters.
