thereuare Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 Best guess for the 3* property would be the Milford Plaza and for the 4* property my guess would be the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. lcd Posted October 29, 2013 Author Report Posted October 29, 2013 Hi Thereuare,To compare prices, I used your 5% off Priceline Express link and got a similar hit for a 4* Midtown West hotel at $128 with guest rating 8.0. Amenities include: free wifi, pets allowed, restaurant, business center and fitness center. Could this also be the Sheraton Times Square Hotel? I'll start a new topic in the Priceline forum if I decide to try my luck at bidding. Thanks!lcd
thereuare Posted October 29, 2013 Report Posted October 29, 2013 Both the Sheraton and the Algonquin have been seen with the PRICELINE EXPRESS amenity set above so either of these would be my best guess for the one posted, although i'll add that there are fairly common amenities for a 4* hotel in NYC so it wouldn't be too surprising if there were other properties with this same amenity set. Please keep all posts for this stay in this same thread, if/when you win a hotel use the EDIT TO REPORT WIN button on the lower right corner of this page to report your win and the entire thread will be moved (if necessary) to the correct section of the board. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. lcd Posted October 30, 2013 Author Report Posted October 30, 2013 Just gave PRICELINE a try and bid low for a 4* not expecting to get anything. To my surprise, I won the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel at $110, plus tax $140.33. This is a bit lower than the $118 Hotwire price, which may have been the Sheraton or a similar hotel.Has anyone stayed here before? Would love to hear your comments about this property. Thanks for your help!PS: Forgot to add that I used your PRICELINE link!
thereuare Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 Congratulations on your success! An excellent deal for this property at this time of year. I have never stayed here but i am familiar with this property... many (if not all) of the rooms were renovated about 2 years ago which results in improved reviews. The hotel is well located with good subway access nearby, but is still a 'business hotel' so don't expect too much personalized attention (the door man is not likely to call you by name ;) ).Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding. Enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
APHASIAN Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 Curious - those are great prices for a 4* in NY City, what are your dates?? I'm going Nov 15-18, and the best I could get on Priceline for a 4* was a $146 win ($178 after tax) in Midtown East (could not get Times Sq. or Midtown central/west). I won on Priceline the Doubletree Metropolitan NY ...not thrilled about the hotel, but i'm sure it will be fine.
