cashby
Looking for a hotel in the Manhattan central area (could do elsewhere if close) for $300 or less. What is my best option for the nicest hotel? Hotwire? Name your price priceline? Can you offer any help? Link to comment
thereuare
Looking for a hotel in the Manhattan central area...Exactly which zones are you willing to accept? Is the stated $300/nite the room rate or 'all-in'?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
cashby
That's "all in"...ESB, midtown central, midtown west and maybe times square/madison square gardenThanks. Link to comment
thereuare
If you haven't yet please start by reading your messages.Your all-in price equates to a $265/nite room rate which based upon current rates may be difficult for this seasonally expensive nite in NYC.Please let us know if we should include MSG and/or TS in a bidding strategy or not and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. cashby
I would add it just in case because we are traveling with others and $300 is max. Thank you for your help. Link to comment
thereuare
Still not clear and we need to back-up a minute... ...we are traveling with others...Do you need more than one room and/or more than double occupancy? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. cashby
There are 4 of us so two double beds would work. Link to comment
thereuare
PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. This is considered substantially more risky in NYC (where rooms are notoriously small and many hotels have a high percentage of rooms with only one bed and rooms with two beds is often considered an upgrade) vs. a location such as Orlando that is accustomed to accommodating families. As well, from a seasonal perspective this is one of the busier nites of the year in NYC which increases the risk as hotels may be at or near full occupancy and not have as much flexibility to change your rooms. If this is not a risk you're willing to accept HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)If you search HOTWIRE for 4adults does anything appear within your budget? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. cashby
The lowest option that we would consider for 4 on HOTWIRE is $375 so I would say no. It may be worth the risk with PRICELINE so if you could give me the best bidding plan that would be great. Link to comment
thereuare
So to confirm the zones: ESB, midtown central, midtown west and maybe times square/madison square gardenMidtown Central is not the name of a PRICELINE zone... it is very close to MTW but you have already listed that one. Was MTE intentionally omitted from the bidding? Also, we are including MSG and TS?The most frequently bid zones at the 4* level are:MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, ESB, MSGChelsea is often included as well, even though it is a bit west, it's a 'happening' area right now with a lot of bars, restaurants, shops, etc. Please confirm the zones you're willing to accept, by PRICELINE name, and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. cashby
When would you suggest the best time to book on HOTWIRE? The prices have gone up in the past 24 hours. Will they go down for a few hours or anytime soon? Link to comment
thereuare
There is no telling if (or when) rates will drop or if they will continue even higher from here... it all depends upon how actual new reservations/cancellations come in relative to expected new reservation/cancellations.Did you try the bidding above and were rejected? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
