Priceline Hotel: MTW 4* help needed

Looking to stay in Manhattan, ideally MTW or UWS, over NY marathon weekend when prices are notoriously high. Was rejected on bids all the way up to $190. Do hotels typically accept or reject deep discounts at the last minute? I might consider TS but prefer to be closer to the park. Any help/thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. What are your exact date/s of travel and desired budget per night? This is a busy season but beyond that that weekend is highly busy due to the Marathon. Prices *could* go down closer to the stay, but there is no guarantee - they could stay the same or certainly go higher. Hotels are going to likely expect walk-ins, so will possibly be less aggressive with discounting.

It depends upon their occupancy levels and their expectations for walk-in business. If they have 20 rooms available and expect 50 walk-in customers, they won't offer inventory at all... if they have 20 rooms available and expect 30 walk-in customers they may offer no inventory or a very small discount... if they have 200 rooms available and expect 20 walk-in customers then they are more inclined to discount more deeply.
