Jmh23801 Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 Hi everyone I would like to ask for recommendations on parts of the city to stay in as well as bidding strategy. The only place I know that I'm definitely going to is a tattoo shop in Brooklyn (Williamsburg). Other than that my itinerary is completely open and flexible. I wouldn't mind being with in distance of some cool things to do and see Best,Jh
thereuare Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please start by reading your messages and clicking each of these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links... then reply to this thread and we'll have a look at your post above. Also, what is your expected budget per nite (before taxes/fees) for this trip? Are you willing to pay more for a 4.5* vs. a 4* vs. a 3.5* OR is the goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Jmh23801 Posted October 22, 2013 Author Report Posted October 22, 2013 Thanks. I would like to spend avg of $200 per night. Least expensive is best.
thereuare Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 ...and clicking each of these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links...2x Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
thereuare Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 I'm not sure if you mean $200 all-in (including taxes/fees) or a $200 room rate, but either way at current rates your budget is a little on the low side for these dates and you'll likely need to be a bit flexible in terms of either budget, location, or star rating. To give you some thoughts (listed rates are room rate only):3* Lower East Side ~$200/nite4* Downtown ~$200/nite3* Midtown $225/nite3.5* Midtown (Wyndham Midtown 45??) for $225/niteLower East Side is lower rated and higher priced than the 3.5* you're seeking but is somewhat trendy at the moment... Downtown is highest rated but on the weekends can be a little quiet, the midtown hotels are centrally located as a launching point to head elsewhere in the city, but some of the more expensive properties listed.Let us know your thoughts as far as what you would like to try for first and we'll take it from there (or maybe only get half the tattoo this trip :P ).Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Jmh23801 Posted October 22, 2013 Author Report Posted October 22, 2013 Thanks for the info. I meant around $200 per night not all in :-). Thx,Joe

Jmh23801 Posted October 22, 2013 Author Report Posted October 22, 2013 I'm ready to commit, airfare already booked. Any knowledge of Brooklyn hotels?
thereuare Posted October 23, 2013 Report Posted October 23, 2013 What is it that you want to know? One if the issues with bidding on PRICELINE for Brooklyn is that geographically the area is very large, combine that with the fact that once you get outside of Manhattan subway stations become a but further apart, and it becomes a bit trickier to ensure that you're in a convenient location. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Jmh23801 Posted October 23, 2013 Author Report Posted October 23, 2013 That's what I needed to know! Thanks and I will stick to Manhattan. I will update this evening as to results.
AaronJB Posted October 23, 2013 Report Posted October 23, 2013 I'll also throw out that King and Grove is showing for $200 on HOTWIRE for these date/s. If that would be of any interest, please let us know. FALL5 coupon also still works for 5% off on PRICELINE Express.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches..
Jmh23801 Posted October 24, 2013 Author Report Posted October 24, 2013 King and grove is definitely of interest. How do i find it on the Hotwire site?
thereuare Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 Search HOTWIRE for your dates and there is a 3.5* hotel offered in the ESB for ~$200/nite (your price may differ slightly) with:Boutique Restaurant Laundry Best guess for this property would be the King and Grove. Please remember to use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board for all your bidding, searches, and travel purchases.Let us know how it goes (and the room rate you get) or if we can be of further help.
