policezoe Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 Newbie here! Got my first booking! My next question is : How can I get the room type that I want? Since this hotel has rooms with ocean view or lake view (i definitely don't want this!!), is there anything that I could do to have bigger chance for getting an ocean view room? Does the $20 trick apply here also??Thx!!
AaronJB Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 Congrats on your success and Welcome to Betterbidding.Nice deal for this property and hope you are looking forward to your stay.HOTWIRE and PRICELINE reservations are only eligible for regular/standard rooms, given the discounted rates. You can call the hotel to request an upgrade, but the hotel can say no or charge more. Can you please add a reply to this thread with the amenities shown before purchase? This information is available under the trip information in your HOTWIRE account (click "My Account" in the upper corner of HOTWIRE.)Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.

Does it mean the worst kind? (I went to its official website and saw 2 types of rooms that don't have the ocean view, while all others do.) From your experience/other experiences shared here, which way do you think works better (cost less money while having reasonable probability of getting an upgrade): the $20 trick when checking-in or call the hotel now??Thanks!
thereuare Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 You can call the hotel to ask what type of room you have been assigned/booked and from there inquire if it's possible to upgrade for an additional fee. However, there is a good chance that the hotel books a room 'Run of House' which means that the actual room will be assigned at the time of check-in, based upon availability (this gives the hotel the greatest amount of flexibility in managing their room inventory).I don't know the price difference between the different room classes so you can research before you call the hotel to inquire about your specific room type and if the fee for an upgrade is reasonable (relative to the price difference between the different room classes on the hotel website when booking direct) you can decide to pay for the upgrade in advance OR take your chances with the $20 trick and tipping at check-in.Have a great trip.
