theory12 Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 Hi, I am in Hotwire with a 4.5* for $97....Boutique, Fitness Center, restaurantWhat could this be?? The Boutique part throws me off. There is a 4* also in Loop, for higher price, $154, with the same amenities as above??? :) Thanks for your help!
lindabobhat Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 I thought the Monaco and the Hotel Burnham came up the same on Hotwire, but maybe one of them has been changed from 4.5* to 4*. Also, please post your dates - it's helpful to those of us looking to assist with ID's.
theory12 Posted October 16, 2005 Author Report Posted October 16, 2005 Oh, I did have the dates--they are in the topic header for March 16-19. I think I would rather have Burnham over Monaco so I wanted to see the difference.
thereuare Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 The Burnham is still rated 4.5* while the Monaco is now 4*... that should help :) Let us know what you decide to do or if we can help further. theory12 Posted October 16, 2005 Author Report Posted October 16, 2005 Thanks very much! I was thinking the same, as Trip Advisor review dates seemed to match my suspicion that Burnham would be the 4.5*. Do you think it is too early for me to book this??Would they forget my reservation, or could this be lower for this timeframe later?? For a nicer climate, I also looked at June 30-July 5 dates and it came up with these same hotels offered.
lindabobhat Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 Sorry about the dates thing - once you are typing your reply, you can't see the topic header. As far as whether it is too early to book, if your plans are firm now, I'd go ahead - $97 is a very good price for the Burnham (never stayed there, but it is on my list of hotels I really want to try!)Thanks, thereuare, for the clarification on the star ratings - I didn't even look at the list; just working off memory. It's nice to be able to distinguish the two properties.
theory12 Posted October 18, 2005 Author Report Posted October 18, 2005 Ok, I am mad that they raised this to $165 probably becasue of the number of checks I've done. Now I really won't book : (. Do you think it is my login or all of the searches done because of my post? Exact same dates too. I will lay off and try weeks later.
lindabobhat Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 Sometimes I delete my cookies and temporary internet files, then try Hotwire again, without logging back in. I, too, do a relentless amount of searching on there and have often wondered the same thing. I have a few accounts set up there and notice that the one set up in my husband's name usually gets quoted a buck or two less than I do. Wish I knew why that was.For the record, I tried searching for your dates as well and also see the 4.5* Boutique in the Loop for $165. At least it's several months away - I'd wait a while and try again to see if it comes back down again.

theory12 Posted October 18, 2005 Author Report Posted October 18, 2005 Thanks to you both for helping me out. I will be sure to use the savingsBarn link when I am ready to book :) It is still very early and I suppose I was hesitant to book due to exact dates and, in case I can get lower pricing of course. I think I will go for it if under $100....EasyClickTravel corporate rate had Hotel71 for a little over $100 but I would rather have Burnham.
thereuare Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 One advantage of EasyClickTravel is that it's cancellable up until 72 hours before your check-in date. You can "lock in your price" now and continue to try the opaque providers... at least this way you're covered if prices go up or nothing else comes thru. If something better comes along... cancel your back-up. :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
theory12 Posted October 27, 2005 Author Report Posted October 27, 2005 Crazy...today it is coming up $372 for that 4.5* which has to be Burnham. I checked and while Hotels.com has it for $399, Orbitz was still $189. So I know they didn't seel out on Hotwire, just mixing up the pricing. To the extreme high side! :)
