mattnorth Posted October 17, 2013 Report Posted October 17, 2013 Hi, great website, hopefully you can help me.Can you provide a Priceline bidding strategy for a 2 night stay June 9th-11th 2014 in NYC?Firstly, is it too early to book so far in advance? If not, i'm looking for a 4.5* hotel in the following zones:Central Park SouthEmpire StateMidtown East/WestTimes SquareI've had a look around the forums and on Priceline Express and am still unsure what kind of price I should be aiming at - can you advise? Don't really want to pay more than $300 a night all-in - is that realistic?Would be willing to go down to 4* if that is more achievable.Any advice would be great. Thanks!
thereuare Posted October 17, 2013 Report Posted October 17, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages. We can suggest a strategy for whatever you'd like, but i think you will likely see more value at the 4* level vs. the 4.5* level as there just are many more 4* hotel properties than 4.5* properties (which means more competition at the 4* level). If you want to try for a 4.5* hotel we can do so, but i think it will take almost your full budget (if you are successful) whereas a 4* hotel may likely be had in the $200-$220 area (bid price)As a reference point or perhaps you're interested in these hotels at these prices... HOTWIRE has what i believe to be The Mansfield hotel for $191/nite... and the St. Giles The Court for $236/nite. Nobody can say if rates will come down, or move higher, between now and your trip, but each of these represents about $70-$90/nite savings vs. a conventional booking, so you need to decide if this is enough savings to commit to a non-refundable purchase at this point in time. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thoughts and how you would like to proceed and we'll take it from there. mattnorth Posted October 17, 2013 Author Report Posted October 17, 2013 thanks for the advice, i'll re-start my search at 4*, see whats around, and get back to you!
