Priceline Hotel: 4* Shanghai (Huangpu) Courtyard Shanghai Puxi

Started bidding at $40 or $45, then immediately got the offer to add $14 (to $59) to get my 4* room in Huangpu. I was already clued in by a friend that this means I can get the room somewhere below this offer and that I'm close. Found the text link to decline and continue bidding. Put in $50 and was declined again.

Not having that many more 3* or below zones to use to re-bid, yet knowing I was close, I decided to jump only $2 more. Got it at $52! With hindsight, I wish I would have tried $51, and also maybe bid for only one night (lowering my risk of getting a fake 4* for all three nights). Because I was given the opportunity to add more nights at the same price after "winning" anyways.

One minor gripe, this hotel does fall on Priceline's map of their "Huangpu area." However, if you look at any other real map, this hotel is more like in the Zhabei area.

This hotel has very high rating on Tripadvisor, so I am very happy with it. It is very close to a metro/subway station and also on the Puxi side of Shanghai. I was considering Pudong Liuzui area to be in a newer building/hotel. This Courtyard Marriot was built in 2010.

At this price and with this hotel, Priceline came through for me again! Happy happy! Hope this help somebody and wish me a good experience when I arrive there. :D
