potraitlife Posted October 12, 2013 Report Posted October 12, 2013 Hi guys,I was wondering if you could help me bid again on Priceline, but this time for Melbourne Australia.Dates: Jan 16th, 17th, 18th 2014For 2 peopleMax Bid: $180I would like to grab a 5* hotel. Could anyone tell me what the 5* hotels are in Zones 1 and 2? I think I would prefer Zone 1 though. Its been a while since I have done this and I completely forgot how I am suppose to find out which zones don't contain 5* hotels. Can anyone also help with what Zone and how much I should bid?
thereuare Posted October 12, 2013 Report Posted October 12, 2013 For how to determine your re-bid zones see this Priceline Re-Bidding Explained thread (NOTE: you have ELEVEN re-bid zones at the 5* level, see if you can determine them and ask questions and/or confirm them with the board). You can see all hotels reported to the board in the Priceline Hotel List.Is your check-out date 1/18 (2 nite stay) or 1/19 (3 nite stay)Also, which PRICELINE zone is it that you're looking to bid? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. potraitlife Posted October 13, 2013 Author Report Posted October 13, 2013 Ok. I'll have a look at the links above and determine how to proceed. My check out date is 19th, so 3 night stay.Looking at ZONE 1, which is in the CBD.
potraitlife Posted October 13, 2013 Author Report Posted October 13, 2013 Ok, I just did the bidding on priceline and came to $110 - $160 and got rejected for that too. Now I cant select anymore zone that DONT contain 5* hotels. How do I start bidding from scratch again, how do i stop this??
thereuare Posted October 13, 2013 Report Posted October 13, 2013 At current rates my guess is that a 5* hotel in the Downtown East Collins-Federation Square zone will likely cost more than $180/nite. If you want to give it a try anyway we can suggest a strategy for you to follow, but before doing so, please confirm that you're able to accept a hotel anywhere within the zone (not just in the CBD area, assuming that the zone covers more than just the CBD area)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. potraitlife Posted October 13, 2013 Author Report Posted October 13, 2013 Yes, I am willing to get any 5* hotel in that zone (zone 1)

potraitlife Posted October 13, 2013 Author Report Posted October 13, 2013 Ok, I'll try that. Do I just close my browser from my previous bid and it will reset?
thereuare Posted October 13, 2013 Report Posted October 13, 2013 Using the strategy above there is no need to close your browser between each bid... if you're new to re-bidding feel free to confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.Good luck! potraitlife Posted October 13, 2013 Author Report Posted October 13, 2013 Umm, above I said that I already had a strategy and already did the bidding starting from $110. I got up to $160(11 bids) and now its asking me to bid again, but I have run out of zones to bid for that are not 5*.I want to start again from scratch, like you suggest above. Can I do that?
thereuare Posted October 13, 2013 Report Posted October 13, 2013 We posted at the same time so i missed your previous post of the bidding you had already done. You'll have to wait 24 hours from the last PRICELINE bid you made to try gain and follow the strategy above.Good luck. potraitlife Posted May 7, 2014 Author Report Posted May 7, 2014 Bit late, but better late then never. Ended up getting it for $160 per night on Hot.wire at the Vibe Savoy Hotel Melbourne. Was pretty happy, think it was a 4.5* hotel.
