yellowdog Posted September 14, 2013 Report Posted September 14, 2013 I believe there may have been more amenities than you listed in your post. HOTWIRE has a new interface which is not currently showing the complete set of amenities at the usual point of the search process. Can you please run a new search through bord's BiddingHelper.com on top of the page. Please copy and paste the amenities and price you'll see in the Easy View tab and we'll have a look at this.Thanx for using board's HOTWIRE links!Yellowdog.
elcorto Posted September 17, 2013 Author Report Posted September 17, 2013 Given that during the weekend is the Marathon and prices are up, I will split my stay. thereuare Posted September 18, 2013 Report Posted September 18, 2013 Best guess for the Northbrook hotel would be the Sheraton Chicago Northbrook Hotel... for the O'hare property the Sheraton Chicago O'Hare Airport would be my best guess. If you do ultimately SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID, please use this thread to report the win for your first nite (use the EDIT TO REPORT WIN button on the lower right corner of this page) and use the POST HOTEL WIN to start a new topic and report your win for the second nite... this will enable others to know about both wins when searching the topic titles on the board and in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. AaronJB Posted September 18, 2013 Report Posted September 18, 2013 The Sheraton Northbrook would actually be a very convenient option. That property is not far from a Metra station, but is also nearby a number of restaurants and not far from the expressway. It's in a very nice mall w/Whole Foods and some other odds/ends. If you are renting the car for both nights, staying in the suburbs - while certainly not as convenient as being downtown - would be cheaper + free parking. In terms of bidding, the only "known" 4* in the North Shore zone is the Westin North Shore, which is a fairly new Westin property, although it's sort of in the middle of nowhere. The 3.5* level in the North Shore zone offers some very nice options (the Renaissance, the Sheraton - although the Sheraton has not been reported to the board as a win) and some decent options (Crowne Plaza, Hilton). At the 3.5* level in the Deerfield zone, the Marriott has gotten some mixed reviews, but I've enjoyed all three known 3.5*'s at this level, the Hyatt, Embassy Suites and Marriott Suites. The Hyatt was renovated not long ago.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
elcorto Posted September 18, 2013 Author Report Posted September 18, 2013 Thanks to both for your answers and tips. I might end up staying at Extended Stay America Skokie (good location for my needs and close to Old Orchard mall) and obviously cheaper option. For the night of the 13th, I need to identify the following hotels from Priceline Express in North Michigan Ave - River North Area: 4* - $135: Free Internet; Pets Allowed; Restaurant; Business Center; Fitness Center4 1/2 * - $178: Free Internet; Pets Allowed; Restaurant; Business Center; Fitness CenterMany thanks
AaronJB Posted September 18, 2013 Report Posted September 18, 2013 4* NMA - In terms of amenities, this is a match for the Westin RN, Westin MA, Dana, W Lakeshore, Public and MileNorth. I'm seeing a 9 guest rating on this listing. The only one with a 9 is the Westin RN, so I would lean towards that in this case.4.5* NMA. This could be a possible match for the Sofitel, James or Conrad.I'm seeing the ESA in Skokie at $109.99 on the ESA website for 10/12. That hotel is in a terrific location for being near Old Orchard, but does get some mixed reviews. If the HOTWIRE listing is the potential Sheraton Northbrook, it's easy to go over to Old Orchard via side streets. If you do book the ESA, please use the site's Support Page links to book regular rate.Another minor local tip - Wagner Farm in Glenview (http://www.wagnerfarm.org/) is not far from Old Orchard or the Sheraton - it's a little farm museum but also an active farm in the middle of the suburbs. They do hold the local farmer's market there on Saturdays - 10/12 is the last market for the year according to the website (http://www.glenviewfarmersmarket.org/).Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
