That being said, I understood the risks in bidding in this zone, and sure enough, I got the Doubletree which is not in downtown Raleigh. That being said, for anyone who "wins" this hotel instead of the Marriott or Sheraton which really are downtown, it's not THAT far. There is a free city bus that circulates somewhat close to it, and it is walkable from downtown, if need be. Previous bid was $70. Winning bid was $75 plus taxes and fees for a total of $95.13. I haven't stayed here since it was bought by Hilton and renovated into a Doubletree, so it'll be interesting to check it out.
