CSL Posted October 8, 2013 Report Posted October 8, 2013 $200 per might will usually get a moderate hotel on Manhattan. Fortunately, all locations in the central and lower parts of Manhattan are great places to stay IF you get a high quality hotel. It is thus VERY easy to start at a low bid on one area (let's say, the exact one you want) for a four-star hotel, and then up your bid by $10 or even $5 as you add one area to your search each time. Last week I followed this route, starting at $150 a night for a four-star hotel. It took about half an hour, but I finally got a four-star hotel for $190 a night in Midtown West. Specifically, the Empire Hotel. This is about 60% off their rack rate.
