Thanks for your help. I checked the HOTWIRE website and they marked this hotel as 3.5 star. Any chance this would be another hotel?

Well, I re-check it and applies my travel date for the search, and the hotel shows 4 star this time. It seems like a star inflation.

This is not an ideal hotel for me. I'll try others. Thanks for your guessing.

I'm not sure i'm following... are you saying that the hotel on the 'opaque' side went from 4* to 3.5* to 4* (all within a 14 hour time span)... OR are you referencing star ratings on the 'retail' side of their site?

Do note that there are two different properties with similar sounding names:

Gran Porto Real Play del Carmen

Real Playa del Carmen

The first one (which is the one i'm guessing in this instance) does have an impressive 4.5/5.0 TA rating (which is also shown within this listing on the HOTWIRE page)
