thereuare Posted October 5, 2013 Report Posted October 5, 2013 When bidding 4* in NYC you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTE...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTW...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* CPS...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE and MTW...Bid $128, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $133, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE and CPS...Bid $128, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $133, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE and MTW and CPS...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $138, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140If the above is rejected, PRICELINE EXPRESS has a 4* hotel in the MTE zone for $157/nite with Pets Allowed, Restaurant, Business Center, Fitness Center. 1234markc Posted October 5, 2013 Author Report Posted October 5, 2013 Thanks for that, much appreciated.Any ideas what the hotel on PRICELINE EXPRESS might be?
AaronJB Posted October 5, 2013 Report Posted October 5, 2013 My guess would be the W NY or Doubletree Met.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
1234markc Posted October 7, 2013 Author Report Posted October 7, 2013 Just picking this up again after a few days.I've seen on priceline express the following;Central Park South for $1893.5*Guest rating 9.0Pet friendlyMidtown East $2114.5*Guest rating 8.0pet friendly, restaurant, business centre, fitness centre, bed choice availableAny guesses of hotel ID's?I've held off on bidding for now as although I'm sure we would get a nice hotel we definitely prefer the slightly smaller boutique type hotels...am I kidding myself if I think I can get something like this via PRICELINE??
thereuare Posted October 8, 2013 Report Posted October 8, 2013 You need to be a bit flexible when using PRICELINE as there is no way to bid for, target, or avoid a Boutique type property. As well with the amenities showing at PRICELINE EXPRESS being very generic, the descriptions can apply many different properties, especially in a place like NYC where it is very dense and a lot of hotels within the zone. With the above noted, my guess for the 4.5* would be the Hyatt 48 Lex... and for the 3.5* possibly The Moderne.Since this an extended stay you could see if this same property is offered for the first (or last) nite of your stay and then again for the balance. If so, you could purchase the solo nite in order to 'look behind the curtain'. If you're happy with the results purchase the remaining nites, if not, make alternate plans for the balance of your stay.Alternately what about HOTWIRE which is often a better option when you're trying to target a specific type of hotel or with certain amenities. What appears to be the Sofitel for $198/nite or what i think is the Affinia Shelburne or Affinia Dumont for $169/nite... do either of these work for your needs? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. 1234markc Posted October 12, 2013 Author Report Posted October 12, 2013 Ended up using HOTWIRE and got Mansfield Hotel.I used the information in the hotels list and narrowed it down to the Mansfield or Shoreham. I wanted to get a better idea of the hotels it might be so took your advice and used Hotwire instead and it worked out well. The description wasBoutique hotelFree internetBusinessPet friendlyThanks for the help.
thereuare Posted October 12, 2013 Report Posted October 12, 2013 Congratulations on your success and thank you for sharing your win with the board. In addition to the amenities above, can you please add a reply to this thread confirming if this property also showed an INTERNET ACCESS amenity? For the futuure, please change the drop down menu on the top right of HOTWIRE's page to United States and the currency dropdown to US Dollars. Then continue to search HOTWIRE and post to the board in US Dollars so that rates are consistent and not subject to interpretation due to future currency fluctuation. Once you're ready to purchase stay on the US version of their site and simply change the drop down menu to whatever currency you'd like to use and complete your purchase.Enjoy your stay. 1234markc Posted October 14, 2013 Author Report Posted October 14, 2013 It only showed "free internet" on that front, nothing else other than what's listed above.I think the W hotel on Lexington was showing with almost exactly the same description, we were happy eiger way it just turned out to be the Mansfield.
thereuare Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 Thanks for the follow-up.A current HOTWIRE search for your dates shows the 4* hotel in this zone with all FIVE amenities:Free Internet Pet Friendly Boutique Business Hi-Speed Internet Have a great trip.
