thereuare Posted October 3, 2013 Report Posted October 3, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! Two comments:1) you may be able to get a 4* hotel at $200 or less. Do you want to try for this first OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this trip?2) note that at 3.5* and under in the CPS zone is the Hudson Hotel. This property is centrally located but has notoriously small rooms, is this an acceptable outcome if you choose to bid 3.5*?Please confirm the above and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. bigeye Posted October 3, 2013 Author Report Posted October 3, 2013 1. Yes, if I can get a 4* under $200, it is ideal. I'd like to try that strategy first.2. No, I'm not a big fan of tiny rooms.
thereuare Posted October 3, 2013 Report Posted October 3, 2013 So we will first try all zones above at the 4* level, if that is rejected we will then try for a 3.5* and exclude CPS.When bidding 4* in NYC you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* CPS, Chelsea, ESB, MSG...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, TS...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, Chelsea, ESB, MSG...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* CPS, MTW, TS...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* CPS, MTW, ESB, MSG...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $163, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, Chelsea, TS...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $163, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* CPS, Chelsea, TS, MSG...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $168, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, ESB...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $168, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, Chelsea...Bid $173, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $178, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, ESB...Bid $173, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $178, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, MSG...Bid $173, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $178, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* CPS, Chelsea, ESB, MSG, MTE, MTW...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $183, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $185, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* CPS, Chelsea, ESB, MSG, MTE, TS...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $183, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $185, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, Chelsea, ESB...Bid $188, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $193, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, Chelsea, MSG...Bid $188, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $193, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, Chelsea, ESB, MSG...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $198, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $200If the above is rejected i'll also point out that PRICELINE EXPRESS has a 4* hotel in the Soho zone for $207/nite which using this PRICELINE EXPRESS link and code FALL5 will give 5% off, bringing the room rate down to $197/nite... but not sure if you prefer a 4* hotel in this zone OR a 3.5* hotel in one of the zones above (less CPS).Also, HOTWIRE has what looks to be the 4* rated Shoreham hotel for $198/nite which is another option should the above fail.Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. bigeye Posted October 3, 2013 Author Report Posted October 3, 2013 The biddings are all rejected. Do you think I should wait or get the express deal. If I'm willing to go down to 3.5*, would it be better than getting the shoreham? I feel that the shoreham does not get a good review on trip advisor.
AaronJB Posted October 3, 2013 Report Posted October 3, 2013 You have to look within the tripadvisor reviews, especially when you are dealing with a place like NYC. If people are paying significantly more regular rate, they understandably have expectations that may be difficult to meet. Are the reviews for serious issues or are they "the room is too small" sort of issues? If the latter, people may not feel they're getting a good value at full price but MAY not be as bothered at 30-40-50 (+/-) % off. NYC rooms are small and prices are often high.I think you're probably $5-10 away from getting an accepted bid on PRICELINE - or go with the possible Shoreham. However, I will note that this is is right in the middle of what is (at least traditionally) a very busy period. I'd lock in something.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
