louisd
Let me start by saying that I travel for business a lot and spend lots of nights in hotels all over the world. When I get lucky on price I get to stay nice places, but often have to settle for 2* hotels. On this trip I needed to be in Norfolk, not my favorite place in the world. I used Priceline to look for 3* hotels in downtown Norfolk and got the Radisson. As soon as I told the customer that I was visiting that I would be at the Radisson he told me "No don't stay there, it's an awful part of town and the hotel is a dump."Unfortunately, he wasn't too wrong. This hotel is in the midst of a renovation. Talking to the staff the renovation is concentrating on the public areas and not the rooms. However, the rooms need work bad. Room Positives: Good SizeGreat Channel Selection on TVs (50+ channels)Brand New Beds (Select Comfort Sleep Number Beds)Room Negatives:Stained & Torn CarpetsAncient air conditioning units that sort of work and are REALLY loudFunky wet/urine type smell every time the air conditioning runsHideous old wall papersHotel Positives:Free Wi-Fi Internet AccessRestaurant and Room Service are actually goodFree Secure ParkingHotel Negatives:Currently (10/05) horribly under construction, big messCrappy NeighborhoodNothing around the hotel that you can walk to (food or otherwise)Uncaring staff (My airconditioning unit wasn't working right, the staff sent someone who looked and said "I don't know what's wrong, sorry, you'll just have to bear with it."Overall this hotel doesn't come close to the quality I expect from a Priceline 3* hotel. It isn't even as clean and nice as the 2* hotels I've gotten from priceline. I'll be sure and do everything I can to avoid staying at this or any other Radisson in the future.--Louis Link to comment
