I've been trying to book a hotel for 1 night 10/12-10/13 for a 4* and up hotel at the White house, and convention center areas . I am up to $165 and no cigars....

Is there something going on in DC for those dates?

Looks like there is 'truckers strike' rally/protest taking place on Oct 11th and that may be what is driving up hotel rates.

Are these the only two zones you're willing to accept?

HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the Dupont Circle zone for $126/nite (the Beacon??) and a 4* in the Capitol Hill-National Mall zone for $158/nite (the Washington Court Hotel??)... do either of these work for your plans?
