MaggieQiu Posted September 25, 2013 Report Posted September 25, 2013 I am looking for a 10/8 - 10/12 stay in NYC. We've not been before, so we're hoping to stay near MTE,MTW CPS,MSG...as long as the Subway is convenient. We'd prefer 4* or 3.5*.max budget is 220Could you please advise. Many thanks in Advance.
thereuare Posted September 25, 2013 Report Posted September 25, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding!Note that although it has not yet been reported to the board in quite some time, the ONE New York Plaza in the MTE zone was recently upgraded to a 4* hotel and can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway... would this be acceptable or do you need to avoid this zone in order to avoid this property? Rates are high for your dates and at current rates $220 may not be enough for a centrally located hotel for these dates, and including all possible zones will improve your chances by giving more hotels the ability to accept your bid, so you'll need to decide if the possibility of receiving this somewhat less convenient property is worth the risk of including the MTE zone or not (as there are other hotels in the zone that may offer the lowest possible 'win' for these dates... which you won't be able to receive if you exclude this zone from your bidding)Also, at the 3.5* level in CPS is the Hudson Hotel which is centrally located but has notoriously small rooms (even by NYC standards) so you'll need to decide if this too is acceptable or not.Let us know the above regarding these zones and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. MaggieQiu Posted September 25, 2013 Author Report Posted September 25, 2013 Many thanks for the promot reply.Although One New York Plaza is over our budget, but still acceptable, I want to know the estmated rate if we won.
thereuare Posted September 25, 2013 Report Posted September 25, 2013 Although One New York Plaza is over our budget, but still acceptable, I want to know the estmated rate if we won.Do you mean if you won the One New York Plaza specifically or if you were to win a 3.5* or better in any of your acceptable zones?Regardless of which of the questions above you're asking, as noted above, at current rates i'm doubtful think your $220 will be enough for a 3.5* hotel in any of your acceptable zones... i think you're more likely looking at $240-$260 to be successful for a 3.5* or better for these dates. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.
