I have clicked the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links and have been reviewing prices for hotels in NYC.I am going to NYC for business on 10/7 through 10/11 in the Downtown - Financial District area. Then, my wife and a relative want to fly in on 10/11 and hang out in NYC until around 10/15. MTE, ESB, CPS, Chelsea, Downtown, Hell's Kitchen, LES, MSG, MTW, SOHO, TS, UES or UWS are all probably ok...as long as the Subway is convenient. I will be honest...my first Better Bidding Priceline experience was the Benjamin in MTE and it was wonderful. My last NYC trip I ended up with the Roosevelt in MTE and it was horrible. Because of the Roosevelt and the ONE UN (too far from Subway) I am hesitant to bid on 4* in MTE. That is disappointing because there are some really nice 4* places in MTE...but I really do not want one of those two locations.I did really like staying in MTE. I have stayed in Downtown before and while it was nice and quite and close to work...it was absolutely dead at night and not many food options. I kinda preferred to take the subway from MTE each morning and night just to get someplace that was more open. I tend to work until 10:00pm - midnight when traveling so...things open late are nice.Anyway...I need one room from 10/7 to 10/11. 4.5* or 4*...but prefer to avoid the Roosevelt (not 4* frankly) and the ONE UN (too far from Subway).I need two rooms from 10/11 to 10/15. 4.5* or 4*. I do not mind changing hotels during the trip.Trying to formulate a good strategy maybe starting with 4.5* and moving to 4*. I am not horribly familiar with all the areas in NYC...but I did like staying in MTE. Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Priceline is showing the West Tower of the ONE UN as 4.5* now...that seems to have changed from last I remember. I can't seem to get Priceline to pull up the Roosevelt so I am not sure if they are 7.0 or higher rated currently.Thanks.

It didn't go wonderfully because Priceline kept going into the 'Check back in 15 minutes and we will let you know) so it took a LONG time. Started at $140...worked my way up to $225...44 bids later and many...many hours.I changed the dates to 10/7-10/9 figuring I could change hotels if I ended up with something I wasn't thrilled with. I also thought I could potentially extend the stay using the Priceline add days feature. That didn't work. I tried to add two days (10/7-10/11) however it would not allow me to add the days at this rate...So I am changing hotels.Worked up in the dollar amounts suggested. Started $140...$223 was rejected...$225 was accepted.Ramada Plaza New Yorker Hotel $225/night - $450 + Taxes and Fees = $549.22 total.Never stayed over in MSG...so I guess I will see how it goes.Since it would not let me extend...I had to keep bidding for my additional days and ended up winning somewhere else that I will post.Thank you!
