Anyway, I bid $220 for 4* for 5 nights from 10/31 to 11/05 in the Central Park south area and then $200 for 3 1/2* in the same area and both were rejected. We're really looking for this area or perhaps MTW 4* for around $220. Any ideas? Any chances well get our desired deals? THANKS!
thereuare Posted September 24, 2013 Report Posted September 24, 2013 If you haven't yet please start by reading your messages.Nobody can say if rates will come down, or move higher, between now and your trip, but as i'm sure you are aware rates to jump higher for during the NYC Marathon and at the moment i think a 4* hotel in one of these two zones will likely run you $265-$290/nite.If you're willing to stay in MTE what appears to be the Doubletree Metropolitan is offered for $235/nite... or what appears to be the Omni Berkshire is offered for $275/nite and is very highly rated and just one block outside of the CPS zone (so very close to where you are hoping to be)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Given the busy time and high rates during the marathon, perhaps we can explore a 4* in the $220 range in the Empire state area, Madison Square Garden, Midtown East, Times square as well as the two originally wanted (Midtown west and our #1 wish Central park south) Guess the expanded area will give us more chances of a great deal! Well, I tried (of course via the PRICELINE links posted here) all or the above all the way up to $220 for a 4* in those 6 zones with no luck at all. We even tried 3 1/2* in the same 6 zones for the $220 and were rejected as well! How about 3*? We're thinking perhaps Hotwire has a better deal for a 3* in the $220 range in any of those zones. Some complimentary wifi and/or breakfast wouldn't hurt! Thanks again!

If you do see a property with breakfast on HOTWIRE or PRICELINE Express, you may still want to try bidding for a 3* to see if you can get a 3* for cheap enough that the difference between the bid win and HOTWIRE/PRICELINE EXPRESS listing will allow for breakfast somewhere else nearby if the hotel won doesn't offer free breakfast.HOTWIRE has a 2.5* for $196 w/breakfast, although that listing has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board (- I'd guess the Stanford would be a possibility?). Still, on the detail page it is showing a 4/5 tripadvisor rating.Would that option be more appealing, or something like the potential Doubletree Met for about $35-40 more? We ended up looking on HOTWIRE (via the links provided here) and saw what seemed a great deal on a 4 1/2* on Midtown central for $236 from oct 31 to nov 4 2013. We needed two rooms for those nights and one room for the nov 5 night. So I booked first 2 rooms together for the $236 rate which ended with taxes an fees for $2,315 for 4 nights, both rooms. I booked separately the additional room for the next night for $386 and ended for $481 with taxes and fees. The amenities listed were: Internet access, pet friendly, laundry and business center, and we got the NEW YORK PALACE! Seems like a great deal to me (specially the first 4 nights) considering we bid up to $220 on PRICELINE for a 3 1/2 * in the 6 zones listed in the previous posts, with no luck. Ps.- Do I report this win on the Hotwire forum or you take care of that? Thanks for the great advice! Ready for the NYC Marathon!

An excellent deal at this property for this time of year and Marathon weekend.You're also near my often recommended Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city, makes for a nice, and relatively inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers.We have used this thread to reflect your purchase of two rooms for 10/31-11/4, can you please use the POST HOTEL WIN button to report the additional nite purchased so that each will appear in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins.In the future you can use the EDIT TO REPORT WIN button on the lower right corner of the board to report your win and add a reply, this will allow you to edit the topic title to report your win as well as more the entire thread to the correct section of the board, if necessary.
