Been trying NYOP for 3 consecutive days for a 5* hotel in Seoul (Gangnam-Gu - Seouchu Gu) for 7 nights in Nov.

Low ball offer: $90 rejectted

2nd offer: $100 rejected

Next offer: $110 rejected

Next offer" $120 rejected

Last offer: $125 rejected

Switched to Express deal and they had 5* hotel in Gangnam area (Amenites: pool, parking, casino, gym, biz centre, wifi - any guess which hotel this might be?). Before bidding express deal price on that is $174, after going through several rounds of bidding, the exact same thing is offered at $139.

Now here's the kicker: after my last offer of $125, they give me a counter offer of $149!! Which is HIGHER than the Express Deal of $139!! What the ....

So all in all: NO JOY

Any suggestions welcome.

I am still seeing this property priced at $179... are you still seeing the $139/nite rate?

Really not anything surprising here (especially given that i'm currently only seeing the $179/nite rate). The counter-offer does tell you that at this time a win can likely be had for $126-$149... are you willing to bid higher than your last $125/nite bid? Using MAPS and HOTELS.com what is the best rate you're able to find for a 5* hotel thru conventional booking channels?

The $139 comes only after you've put in couple of bids. I'm holding out at $125 because the after 21% of tax and charges, the price would be $151. I can get Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas at $202/nite through hotel consolidators. A 25% discount doesn't excite me very much :P I'd like to score a knock out!

I'm assuming that $202 rate is 'all-in' to ensure you're making an apples-to-apples comparison to the $139/nite rate?

Even still, if i'm doing my math correctly on the $139/nite rate, a $250 over the course of your 7 nite stay isn't too bad and could be used for other things while traveling, imo.

In the end settled with HOTWIRE for a 4.5* hotel in Downtown Seoul for a rate of $124/nite. Bagged Grand Ambassador Seoul associated with Pullman.

Amenities listed: Free Parking, Airport Shuttle, Indoor Pool(s), Laundry Facilities (self-service), Biz center, Restaurant and High Speed Internet Access.

Deal's ok considering the same hotel during my travel period is offered on Hotels.com for $185/nite. Used your HOTWIRE links.
