mgs4783 Posted September 18, 2013 Report Posted September 18, 2013 My husband and I are planning a trip to Chicago 10/5-10/7. We are looking for 4* or better in the Magnificent Mile area. What's the major difference between River North and Water Tower areas? I am seeing two interesting options on HotWire. Any ideas of what these hotels are? Any chance we'll get something for under $150 if we bid on pricelien?Magnificent Mile North - Water Tower (75% on 2,276 reviews)Smoke-FreeFitness CenterRestaurant Business CenterHigh Speed Internet AccessMagnificent Mile - River North Areas (95% on 445 reviews)Pet FriendlySmoke-FreeFitness CenterRestaurant Business CenterHigh Speed Internet AccessThanks!

thereuare Posted September 18, 2013 Report Posted September 18, 2013 Best guess for the Water Tower property would be the Allerton Crowne Plaza and for the River North property my guess is the Westin River North. It's possible that PRICELINE would be cheaper, but no ability to guess the hotel you may receive or know any of the amenities that are offered at the property before your purchase, so it depends what is more important to you, the lowest possible price vs. knowing the amenities, reading reviews, and have a guess as to what you may receive before your purchase. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes, or if you'd like to proceed with PRICELINE, and we will advise accordingly. AaronJB Posted September 18, 2013 Report Posted September 18, 2013 I'd much rather recommend the potential Westin River North. That's a terrific hotel in a great location, near a wide variety of restaurants in the RN area.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
mgs4783 Posted September 19, 2013 Author Report Posted September 19, 2013 What's the best way to go about bidding on Pricline to ensure a quality 4* property in the River North area? Thanks,Megan
thereuare Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 If you let us know your maximum bid for a 4* hotel in the NMA-River North zone we will suggest a strategy for you to follow? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. mgs4783 Posted September 19, 2013 Author Report Posted September 19, 2013 I was hoping for a max bid of $150. Is that reasonable?
thereuare Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 We can give it a try...When bidding 4* in Chicago you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* NMA-River North...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. mgs4783 Posted September 19, 2013 Author Report Posted September 19, 2013 So I was not able to get the room from Priceline for $150. From your experience is there a chance if I keep trying they may accept my $150 bid as we get closer or am I smarter just to book the deal through HotWire? Thanks for all of your help!
AaronJB Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 There's a chance that rates could go lower closer to your stay, but as hotels go, you're already fairly close to the date/s of travel. Fall in Chicago is also - at least traditionally - a fairly busy period. You can take either HOTWIRE deal, although I think $150 for the potential Allerton seems high and while these date/s are unfortunately on the expensive side, I'd consider either the higher-rated HOTWIRE 4* in the Mag Mile-RN area or a 4* PRICELINE Express deal in the NMA-RN area w/a 9 customer rating.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
mgs4783 Posted September 19, 2013 Author Report Posted September 19, 2013 Any idea what hotel that PRICELINE EXPRESS deal might be for? Again, I really appreciate your help.
AaronJB Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 On PRICELINE EXPRESS I'm seeing a 4* in the River North-NMA area w/free internet, pet friendly, restaurant, business, fitness for $174. The amenities would be a match for the Westin River North, Dana, Westin Michigan Ave and W Lakeshore. However, the only one with a 9 customer rating is the Westin RN, so that would be my guess.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
