Lane2264 Posted September 18, 2013 Report Posted September 18, 2013 Looking to get into the city the weekend before Thanksgiving for an Anniversary trip. As it is my Husband's first trip, I would like to make sure we have a nice hotel and somewhat central located, but willing to open area up, to increase odds of getting a nicer hotel in our price point. It has been 10+yrs since I have been there, please suggest a reorder of Areas to consider if you feel it would be better - We are early 30's, walking & subway travel ok, nice hotel/area more important then being in the middle of it all.Looking 3.5 / 4* hotels - with all in of $180 max. Would like to really get to $165 all in, if possible. Areas to consider are :: (In preference order)MSG - ConventionMidtown EastCentral Park SouthChelseaEmpire StateMidtown WestTimes SquareHell's KitchenUpper East SideUpper West SideLower East SideSoho - TribecaDowntown - Financial DistrictThanks for your help!

Lane2264 Posted September 18, 2013 Author Report Posted September 18, 2013 WON $150 --> 11/23-26 4* W New York - Midtown EastUsing a strategy found in a different post I was able to get 4* 'W New York - Midtown' for a bid price of $150 - bringing my total to $564 for 3 days. Well within my previous budget contraints. I first bid at 4.5*, knowing that I would be happy with a 4* but thrilled beyond with a 4.5* A pretty much - why the heck not at super low prices. (May have wasted my time, but it was worth it)Selected 4.5* CPS, Chelsea, DT, ESB...Bid $140, if rejected added re-bid zone...REJECTEDBid $150, if rejected added re-bid zone...REJECTEDBid $155, if rejected added re-bid zone...REJECTEDBid $160, if rejected added re-bid zone...REJECTEDBid $165, if rejected added re-bid zone...REJECTEDSelected 4.5* Soho, UES, MTW, MTE...Bid $140, if rejected added re-bid zone...REJECTEDBid $150, if rejected added re-bid zone...REJECTEDBid $155, if rejected added re-bid zone...REJECTEDBid $160, if rejected added re-bid zone...REJECTEDBid $160, if rejected added re-bid zone...REJECTEDBid $165, if rejected added re-bid zone...REJECTEDSelected 4* CPS, ESB, MSG, MTE, MTW (As I didn't want Times Square / Chelsea / Wall Street / SoHO / Hells Kitchen)Bid $140, REJECTEDBid $150 with the addition of Long Island City (free Rebid) ---- WON @ $150 W New York - Midtown EastThanks to BetterBidding for being a wealth of information and suggestions! AaronJB Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 Congrats on your success. :)Awesome win for this well-located NYC property! Hope you are looking forward to your stay. This is actually the original W property.Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
thereuare Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 Like much of NYC, rooms at this property can be small, but they do have the W Hotel's signature 'heavenly bed' which is one of the best mattresses in the industry, imo. You're also near my often recommended Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city, makes for a nice, and relatively inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers.Have a great trip. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
