Megalo Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 Hi there,Been looking at the forum and hoping for some assistance. Can use Hotwire or Priceline, but looking for a hotel in central New York between 12th and 17th December. Only been on a day trip before but this time will be looking to see a little more - not too bothered about location but somewhere central is best. Looking to get a 3 to 4* hotel in the area for up to $170 a night. Is this reasonable? Any advice on areas or bidding strategy is welcome!ThanksDavidp.s. don't worry I'll use your links! :)
thereuare Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! You're in the right ballpark for a 3* hotel for these dates. The most frequently bid zones, which are all mostly considered to be centrally located are: MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, ESB, MSG, and Chelsea, but you need to also take note:MTE - the ONE New York Plaza is a bit far east in the zone and can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway.CPS - has the Hudson Hotel which has extremely small rooms, even by NYC standardsChelsea - some parts can be a little far from the subway, but it's a "happening" area right now with lots of cafes, bars, restaurants, boutiques, etcOTHER ZONES:Downtown and/or Soho - these are both away from central but they are usually a little cheaper (at least Downtown typically is) than midtown hotels and are do-able for the right priceLet us know your thoughts on which zone(s) you're willing to accept and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
