Hotwire Hotel: 4* New York City (Midtown Central) Warwick

Hi, only just found out about Priceline and this site so am not really sure how to approach it.

I have used HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to have a look but would appreciate guidance.

I am visiting with my wife for 4 nights arriving on 18th October and then flying down to Florida for a family party before returning to the UK from Miami.

I have been before, for a very short stay, but my wife has never been.

We will obviously be doing the tourist stuff so will probably want to be fairly central. My budget is fairly reasonable, I don't really have a figure in mind, but I'm not Donald Trump !! I just like value for money and some of the prices on the regular sites seem to be very expensive for what they are, albeit, you say this is an expensive time of year.

Could you give me an idea of my best approach. Should I put in one zone, first preference, if not good, add one at a time ?

Regards

Welcome to Betterbidding.

This is - unfortunately - a busy/expensive period in NYC. What would be your desired/approximate budget per night for this stay and what would be your desired star rating? Which PRICELINE zone/s would be acceptable?

In terms of non-US bidders, please see this thread: Priceline Non-US.

Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

I think you're likely looking in the $210-$215 area for something like the 4* Doubletree Metropolitan, or for a hotel that is also 4* rated but has better reviews what appears to be the Warwick is offered at $245/nite.

Are either of these of interest and within your expected budget for this trip?

Thank for your replies.

I have read the Priceline Non-US thread and am sure I can use the PRICELINE links on here to bid.

That is within my budget and I would be happy to pay around that for a decent hotel.

As for Zones, I am pretty in the dark and am open to advice, maybe an order of preference.

The normal central ones, but the wife had an op recently and we wont want to be walking too far all the time so maybe the more central the better.

We need a little bit of information on how to best advise you for this stay...

Assuming my guess above on the Warwick is correct, i'm currently seeing a 'retail' price of $344/nite for your dates, so the $245/nite rate would certainly seem like a good value.

However, the Doubletree Metropolitan (again, assuming our guess is correct) at $215 is cheaper, and both are 4* rated, but reviews of the Warwick are generally better than the Doubletree... so which would you consider to be a better value?

Again, many thanks for your help.

I have had a quick look at these two and I would definitely pay the bit extra if it was the Warwick. I like the older style hotels with a bit of character.

I am seeing way more than $344 on some UK sites in £'s

Looks a geat deal if it's right, happy to take that chance

Searching HOTWIRE and/or using our BiddingHelper.com, do you see a 4* hotel in the MTC zone for $244/nite (your price may differ by a few dollars) with:

Fitness

Restaurant

Business

Hi-Speed Internet

Blind Accessible

Deaf Accessible

Travel Accessible

Room Accessible

Bathroom Accessible

Handicapped Parking

Roll-in Shower

This matches previous reports for the Warwick and would be my best guess for this one.

Let us know any questions and/or how it goes or if we can be of further help.

On Hotwire I can see one which matches what you have stated, the trip advisor rating is the same and it actually states that the last booking got the warwick hotel

It would appear nailed on or am I missing something. The Hotwire price £157 p/n (about $235)

Would it be a good idea to take the hotwire deal or bid on priceline as I am happy with that price I feel taking hotwire may be best ??

Please change the drop down menu on the top right of HOTWIRE's page to United States and the currency dropdown to US Dollars. Then continue to search HOTWIRE and post to the board in US Dollars so that rates are consistent and not subject to interpretation due to future currency fluctuation. Once you're ready to purchase stay on the US version of their site and simply change the drop down menu to whatever currency you'd like to use and complete your purchase.

Using the method above what is the room rate per nite?
