ttlau Posted September 12, 2013 Report Posted September 12, 2013 I'm looking to stay in NYC 9/21-9/24 and have noticed that a few people have either won a bid or received a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal around the same time on PRICELINE for 180/night in Midtown West for the Sheraton. Any suggestions for bidding or why the express deal I am seeing is for $360/night. Any help would be great! Thanks!
AaronJB Posted September 12, 2013 Report Posted September 12, 2013 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)I believe the UN is in session during this period and rates are extremely high. What would be your desired budget per night for this stay and which zone/s would be acceptable? Additionally, what would be your desired star rating?Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

ttlau Posted September 13, 2013 Author Report Posted September 13, 2013 I would like to stay within the $200-$250/night range in a 4* hotel. I am not too particular about location but somewhere central would be nice. Thanks for your help!
thereuare Posted September 13, 2013 Report Posted September 13, 2013 I think there is a very good chance it will take more than $250 for a 4* hotel for these dates, but to get started (although i do see options at $270 or less, so not that far off)...The most frequently bid zones at the 4* level include:MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, ESB, ChelseaDowntown is frequently less expensive then those above but not as centrally located but you may want to consider given the very high rates for your dates. Some people also like the Soho zone if they're into boutique shopping, art, etc. Although personally i'm not a fan as i prefer other areas of the city, it may be something that meets with your own 'likes' and an additional zone to consider to give more hotels the opportunity to accept your bid (again, given how high rates are for your dates)Let us know which zone(s) are acceptable and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. ttlau Posted September 13, 2013 Author Report Posted September 13, 2013 Thanks for the information! I might have chose the wrong time to go :(I would like to start with the following bid zones:MTE, MTW, TS, CPSI did notice that a couple people had posted rates around $180/night for similar dates. Did I miss out on that?
thereuare Posted September 13, 2013 Report Posted September 13, 2013 Hotel rates are very date specific and can vary greatly from one day to the next, so if the wins you're referencing to are not for the same exact dates as your own, it's not uncommon for pricing to be different (and if they are exactly the same rates can change over time as well)... but we'll start low enough so that you'll have no concerns about having overbid ;)When bidding 4* in NYC you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTE...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTW...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* TS...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* CPS...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE and MTW...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $185, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* TS and CPSBid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $185, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* TS and MTW...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $200, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE and CPSBid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $200, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* CPS and MTW...Bid $205, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $210, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $215, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* TS and MTEBid $205, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $210, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $215, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE and MTW and TS...Bid $220, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $225, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $230, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTE and MTW and CPS...Bid $220, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $225, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $230, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* TS and CPS and MTE...Bid $235, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $240, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $243, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* TS and CPS and MTW...Bid $235, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $240, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $243, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* TS and CPS and MTE and MTW...Bid $245, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $248, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $250Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
