kevinsindy Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 Need some hotwire help identifying a hotel.I used your links to do some searching. I understand the HOTWIRE and PRICELINE concepts. I've done priceline before but in smaller cities where I was basically bidding on just a couple properties and adding zone without 4* hotels to get re-bids. So anyways, the wife and I are looking for a little Chicago getaway 9/27-9/29. I know the town somewhat and want to be in the river north area. Don't want to drop below 4*, would like to come in under $200 a night.PRICELINE searches I could not get 4.5* or higher at $220/nt. (note that was 4.5*, not 4*, as the numebr of choices at 4* scared me off a bit).HOTWIRE is showing me 4* $161/nt Mag Mile North - Water Tower with the following amenities:This Hotel features the following amenities:Free Internet Pet friendly Boutique Hotel Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Services Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower It seemed "Tennis Nearby" and "Free Internet" were pretty unique, but I can't seem to nail it down.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, and will do further searches/buy through your links to support your site.
thereuare Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! The MileNorth Hotel would be my best guess for this one. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
kevinsindy Posted September 10, 2013 Author Report Posted September 10, 2013 ok, so talking with wife and she really wants a king bed. I would like it as well. are we basically out of luck if we use PL or HW? not sure how it works, don't most say room type is not promised? thanks for any help Kevin
AaronJB Posted September 10, 2013 Report Posted September 10, 2013 Neither service guarantees bedding type, which is one of the trade-offs for the discounted rate. You can make requests after booking, but the hotel can say no or charge more. The MileNorth is in a very good location right off Michigan Ave.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted September 11, 2013 Report Posted September 11, 2013 Not guaranteeing a bed type makes it easier for the hotel to manage their room inventory which is part of the reason for offering the deep discounts we often see with PRICELINE and HOTWIRE.One option you my have is to search PRICELINE EXPRESS and choose an option that shows a 'Bed Choice' option (and where one of the bed choice options offers a King bed)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you find, or what you decide to do for this stay, or how we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
kevinsindy Posted September 11, 2013 Author Report Posted September 11, 2013 We ended up booking the Hotel Sax through bookit.com - $199 a night, best PL/HW deal I was seeing was around $170/nt, and wife really like the location and look of Hotel Sax.Thanks for the help though.
