cdn_travel_guy Posted September 9, 2013 Report Posted September 9, 2013 Used the PRICELINE link and wanted to see what Express deals were available to get an idea of prices to bid.For Jan 11 - 16, 2014 found the following which sounds great: 4 Star Hotel in Downtown Disney - Lake Buena Vista Area for $91/night Guaranteed amenities: Outdoor Swimming Pool Pets Allowed Restaurant Business Center Rated: 8.0 or higher. Was tempted to book this until I saw the following: Additional Mandatory Fee: $400.00 This hotel fee is charged by property at checkout.I'm almost positive no hotel in Orlando charges a resort fee of $80 a night.Any idea what hotel this could be? And what you would be getting for this extra $80 a night?
yellowdog Posted September 9, 2013 Report Posted September 9, 2013 I'm not sure but my guess would be Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort Bonnet Creek. And what you would be getting for this extra $80 a night?Like you said, no hotel in Orlando charge $80/night. The board have seen this before. The thing is that PRICELINE has started to show the resort fee for the complete stay for some hotels (or just ramdomly). If you look under "Review Important Information" in you offer will you see "This hotel charges an additional $80 per room per stay." So my guess is that this is a calculation error in the PRICELINE check-out process.I would mail or give PRICELINE a call about this and let them explain.Yellowdog.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted September 9, 2013 Report Posted September 9, 2013 As an experiment i was able to get this same hotel to appear for 6 nites and 4 nites and compared the fees:6nites: $5765nites: $4004nites: $256Trying to find a pattern i think what is happening is that the actual formula should be:fee per nite x number of nitesbut what is actually being used is the number of nites being multiplied a second time:fee per nite x number of nites x number of nitesOn this basis i think the resort fee in this instance is $16 which would make all of the following hold true: 6nites: $576 ($16 x 6 x 6)5nites: $400 ($16 x 5 x 5)4nites: $256 ($16 x 4 x 4)I could be wrong but the above scenario seems to fit pretty good. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. cdn_travel_guy Posted September 9, 2013 Author Report Posted September 9, 2013 Thanks for the quick response. I never thought to try the different nights to verify the calculation.I have looked at this hotel and with the $16 resort fee and the parking fee I think there are better options in terms of value in the area. I will keep you posted.thanks.
