tgp2 Posted September 8, 2013 Report Posted September 8, 2013 Hi,Just discovered this board through reddit.I'm attending two shows on the nights of the Oct. 18th and 19th right near Penn Station. Both nights will go til 4 am. I just want a place that a group of 3 or 4 friends can crash after the show each night. It doesn't have to be a *nice* place really, just decently comfortable. I thought maybe 2.5* or more would be good, though I'm new to this, so I'm not entirely sure. Ideally, it would be located near Penn station, but this is not totally necessary as long as the subway access is good. I would like to spend no more than $200 per night after taxes. Thanks for your help and advice.
thereuare Posted September 8, 2013 Report Posted September 8, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding!Note that PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. This is especially true, and considered a bigger risk in NYC where rooms are notoriously small and rooms with two beds are often considered an upgrade and cost more than 'standard' rooms. If this is not a riks you're willing to accept, HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thoughts and how yo'ud like to proceed and we will take it from there. tgp2 Posted September 8, 2013 Author Report Posted September 8, 2013 I am aware of the bed situation, and this is a risk I'm willing to take. If I am able to find a good price using Hotwire, and guarantee enough bed space, then I am also open to that option.
thereuare Posted September 9, 2013 Report Posted September 9, 2013 At current rates i think you'll likely need to be in the $180-$200 before fees and taxes for these nites. If you'd like to give bidding a try, let us now your maximum bid price before fees and taxes and which zones, by PRICELINE name, you're willing to accept... we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Also, using the zone and bid parameters you decide above, did you want to first try for a higher rated hotel OR is the goal the least expensive 2.5* hotel for these dates? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
