Mmastroianu Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 Hi, I woulg like to have your help for a good deal in NYC from nov 8-12, I willing to spend until 150 per night and would like if possible a 4 star hotel, in a good area like times square, midtown, empire state area, hell k, madson square. Is it possible?I used and tried PRICELINE fot the first time and went up to 150 but no success. My only concern is about very small rooms that I do not like. Thank you in advance
thereuare Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you haven't yet please start by reading your messages. This is an expensive time of year in NYC and if you have already tried up to your $150 limit for all acceptable zones there isn't much else you can do other than:raise your budgetlower your star ratingSPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BIDwait it out and hope for lower rates in the weeks ahead (with the risk being that rates move even higher from here)At the moment i think you're looking at $185/nite for a 4* hotel in a midtown zone.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Mmastroianu Posted September 6, 2013 Author Report Posted September 6, 2013 Hello, I have moved my bid until U$ 160 and included the Financial / Wall Street Area and many others but no sucess for a 4* Hotel. The reason I am looking for a 4 Star Hotel is that I have never used Priceline before and since I do not know which hotel will be selected I raised the bar, but probably a 3 or 3,5 stars would be OK depending on the Hotel.I am thinking on, increase the bid a little bit, reducing the stars, or looking for another área.Could you please help me with the following doubts:- I found a deal at priceline for a 4* Hotel in Priceline at Wall Street Area for about U$ 200, if I use the BIGCITY6 discount the rate goes to U$ 180, considering that and based on your experience if I bid similar that, how much lower than U$ 180 could I get a deal?- I looked at Long Island Area and looks close to Midtown by subway. Is the Area of Wyndham Garden Long Island considered safe? Is realy easy to get to Midtown and othe áreas?Thank you in advance,
thereuare Posted September 6, 2013 Report Posted September 6, 2013 ...how much lower than U$ 180 could I get a deal? You may not be able to get it lower at all... while PRICELINE bidding is often a little bit cheaper than the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal, this is not always the case, and more importantly for this situation, the 10% OFF coupon often make the PRICELINE EXPRESS the better deal. However, the only way that you will know is if you continue to bid up to the $180 price point... but i will also point out that there is a 4* hotel in the MTE zone for $205/nite, less the 10% discount code link in my signature brings the rate to an equivalent of $185/nite, and this would generally be a better location than 'Downtown' and worth the extra $5/nite, imo.- I looked at Long Island Area and looks close to Midtown by subway. Is the Area of Wyndham Garden Long Island considered safe? Is realy easy to get to Midtown and othe áreas? This area is changing with many new hotels sprouting up in the area and a lot of construction of older buildings turning into 'luxury' condos. However, the area is not quite there yet (imo) as it still has an industrial feel to it and lots of graffiti on the walls and such. What is the rate you're seeing in this area as it would need to be a substantial discount to your next best alternative to make staying here worthwhile, imo. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
