m5rcc Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 Hello allI'm wishing to stay in NYC from 10/29 to 11/4 and happy to get any 4-star+ hotel in Manhatten. I've initially put bids for the both Upper sides, both Midtowns, Central Park South and Empire State and bid up to $216 and have not been successful.Any tips/ideas to have some success?
thereuare Posted September 4, 2013 Report Posted September 4, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you haven't yet please start by reading your messages. Not sure if you're aware of, or coming for, but the NYC Marathon takes place on the Sunday of your dates and this is historically a very busy, and expensive, time in NYC... seasonally it's a busy time of year, add the Marathon and it just adds even more demand for hotel rooms during already busy time.PRICELINE EXPRESS has a 4* hotel (Pets Allowed, Business Center, Fitness Center) for $257/nite and using the discount code link in my signature gives an extra 10% OFF, bringing your room rate down to the equivalent of a $231/nite bid... are you willing/able to increase your budget a little higher than your previously failed bids? Would this work fro your needs? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. m5rcc Posted September 4, 2013 Author Report Posted September 4, 2013 Yup aware of the marathon. I'm actually on the Eastside for 9days from 10/29 to 11/8. It might be better to stagger my stay in NY to two periods, as I had wanted to visit Philadelphia and Washington DC too.Perhaps I shall have more luck with staying 10/29-11/1 and then again 11/5-11/8?

As well, although i'm not a runner, the NYC Marathon is a pretty cool, and inspiring, event to attend. So ultimately it's up to you if you want to try SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID, but from the looks of things, it doesn't appear to me that you'll likely be savings a substantial amount of money per nite. I still think you're looking at around the $225 area for a 4* property. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thoughts and we'll take it from there.
