Hello,

I'm excited to have stumbled across this forum. I've been researching on priceline for the past couple hours and just need a bit of help. We are wanting to stay in Times Square - Theatre District or Midtown West for around $200 to $250/night, 4 star or better, for 4 adults (2 queen beds). I know priceline NYOP is for double occupancy only, but i'm hoping these hotels can usually accommodate double beds. Are they typically willing to work with you on bed choices?

I placed an offer for $150 for TS and MTW and of course it was not accepted. Where do I go from here?

Thanks for your help up front!

Few issues regarding above...

As you point out PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that is at the discretion of the hotel. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. Whether they will/can or not depends upon a LOT of different factors, including what is available at the time of your check-in, how many rooms with two beds are offered at the hotel and what they need to accommodate other guests for your dates, hotel policy, mood of the front desk clerk at time of check-in, etc, etc.

Note that with space in NYC very limited, and expensive, hotel rooms are a bit smaller then in most other parts of the country and most hotel have a higher percentage of rooms with only one bed in them, in fact some hotels consider rooms with two beds to be an upgrade from 'standard' and charge more for them. It is therefore considered risky to use PRICELINE for more than double occupancy in NYC (as well as in Europe)... vs. let's say a trip to Orlando where hotels are used to accommodating families and have a higher percentage of rooms with two beds.

If this is not a risk you're willing to accept HOTWIRE may be a better option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc). Also note that when searching for quad occupancy it's not uncommon to see rates increase a bit.

Thank you. This information is very useful. Based on this info I don't want to take the risk of booking a room through PRICELINE that might not be able to accommodate 4 adults. Sounds like HOTWIRE is the way to go. Assuming the same locations and star rating as mentioned above, what do you think we can get a room for?

HOTWIRE shows the room rates (but not the hotel names) so you can start by searching HOTWIRE for 1room/4adults and see room rate at various star levels and zone combinations.

You can also use our BiddingHelper.com and click the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab which (in my opinion) makes it easier to view, filter, and sort hotels. For example you can UNCHECK any star rating that are below the minimum star rating you're willing to accept, UNcheck any zones that are not acceptable... then click the SORT BY: Price link to see the least expensive offers for your dates.

Also, as noted above, quad occupancy in NYC will often increase the room rate per nite (sometimes not at all... sometimes substantially)... i'd also take a look at how much 2rooms would cost and compare it to 1room/quad occupancy, as it's possible it may not be that much more expensive, and will make things a bit more comfortable as well as faster getting ready to go out each day (one bathroom in each room rather than 4 people sharing one, often wanting it at the same time)

Let us know what you find in regards to pricing and if any of the current offers are of interest, and we'll take it from there.

Do you also see Accessible path of travel listed for this property?

If yes would my best guess be City Club Hotel
