Hi all. I plan on going NYC Nov 22/13-Nov 26/13. I am looking to grab a 3.5 star or higher pretty much in these areas:

Mte

Mtw

Ts

Empire state

Central park West

Msg

CPe

Cow

Do you think its too early to start bidding?

Also what would be a considered a good deal?

I am also looking for a hotel preferably less then 10 mins away from a subway. And also what do you think my bidding strategy should be?

Should I start at 100 for those areas?

Thanks!!

The zones in bold above are not the names of PRICELINE zones, please use the search box on the top right corner of the this page, or our BiddingHelper.com, and confirm the oznes you're referring to... should these be Central Park South, Upper East Side and Upper West Side?

I think that you're looking at the $135-$145 for a 4* hotel... perhaps $10-$15 cheaper per nite for a 3.5*. What is your maximum bid for this trip? Did you want to first try for a 4* up to your limit, then if rejected try for a 3.5*... OR is the goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay?

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Let us know the above and we will take it from there.

Sorry, the zones we are looking for is:

central park south

hells kitchen

midtown west

times sq

midtown east

msg

empire state area

chelsea

our max bid would be 150 and we are looking somewhere we can be near a train station (at least 10 min walk max)

the closer to TS the better but its not a big factor, we are looking to save, but we are willing to try 4* or higher then reduce down to 3.5*.

Thanks!

using your HOTWIRE link we found a 3.5 hotel in msg for $159.00. not sure if we should bite on this if we can save money using priceline.

Also we ended up staying in a 4* hotel near that area called the new yorker, and the rooms were tiny. are they all like this?

Thanks.

The majority of hotels in NYC are unfortunately on the small side in terms of rooms.

Please provide the full list of amenities showing with the listing and we would be happy to take a look and try to ID the listing.

Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

I'm having trouble following how to bid. I've read the rules too but not sure how to follow using the strategy in this post.

Can you clarify it a bit more?

Also do you think the express deal is worth it for 150 ish for a 4 star as per the post?

Which hotel would that be?

Thanks!

Start with the following...

1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter 'New York City, NY' and your dates, and click "GO".

2) List each zone that is offered in this region.

3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest star rating offered in the zone is by selecting the first zone i the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. Each time you take note of the highest star rating in the zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected above.

4) post your findings and we'll take it from there

If you don't follow the above just post back and we'll break it down further.

You need to list all the zones in the region (18 of them... although you can leave out 'Coney Island' and 'Queensborogh Bridge' since they are greyed-out and not currently click-able/bid-able, leaving 16 zones you need to list)... not just the zones you are looking to bid on.
