team_su Posted August 28, 2013 Report Posted August 28, 2013 Hi. i am heading to New York for a business/personal trip. For the two nights that are personal, I used your link above and found the following deal for a 4.5* on Hotwire for 9/28/13 through 9/30/13.Amenities:Fitness CenterBusiness CenterLaundryHigh speed internetAccessible for the blindAccessible for the deaf$264/nightI am hoping it might be the New York Palace, but not sure. This would work out well as I will be there the following 3 nights on business and would not have to change hotels, but I would be happy with any of the 4.5* hotels listed on both Hotwire and Priceline and would love to save some money! I had a budget of $250 inclusive of taxes, but would go up a little for convenience if I could get the Palace(I know there are no guarantees). Any suggestions? I am willing to bid on Priceline as well. Thanks so much.
thereuare Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding!I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links. If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com tool, and then click the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab, do you see more amenities then what you have listed above? This is what i see for the 4.5* hotel in the MTE zone when searching HOTWIRE for your dates:Fitness Business Laundry Hi-Speed Internet Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Wheelchair Accessible Bathroom Accessible If this is what you're seeing, the New York Palace would indeed be my best guess for this one. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. team_su Posted August 29, 2013 Author Report Posted August 29, 2013 Thank you, I did see that full list of amenities. I decided to try my luck with PRICELINE just to see if I could save any money.4.5* MTE $200 rejectedadded Hells Kitchen and upped to $225 rejectedadded Lower East Side and upped to $235 rejectedadded Madison Square and upped to $245 rejectedadded Upper West Side and upped to $250 rejectedI am now at about the same price as the original HOTWIRE deal, so no more bidding.I may try to bid again tomorrow, but so far I haven't found anything that would save me enough money to outweigh the inconvenience of changing hotels, even after lowering the star rating and checking other areas. Thanks again and I will keep you posted.

While nobody can say if rates will come down, or move higher, between now and your stay, given that you're hoping for a specific hotel, which appears to be the one currently offered, i would take it if you're happy with the price and it represents enough of a discount vs. conventional rates. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. team_su Posted August 29, 2013 Author Report Posted August 29, 2013 Went with the HOTWIRE deal and got the New York Palace, just as you thought. Rate was $264/night for 9/28/13 - 9/30/13. Thanks so much!Happy with win!!
thereuare Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 Congratulations on your success! Glad to see you received the hotel you were hoping for and now won't have to change properties mid-trip. When you check-in let them know of your second reservation and ask them to block the room for the additional nites you have reserved... you still may need to go to the front desk on 'switch day' to officially check-out and check-in again, but you should be able to keep the same room. You're also near my often recommended Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city, makes for a nice, and relatively inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers.Thank you for sharing your win with the board.
