A-lo Posted August 27, 2013 Report Posted August 27, 2013 Looking for a last minute booking for Labor Day weekend. Rack Rates seem to have come down a bit from a few weeks ago.Previous unsuccessful bid on 8/13 for the same dates: rejected from $125 up to $185Zones: Chelsea, Hell's Kitchen, Central Park South, Midtown West, and ESB, using Long Island and Morningside Heights as my free rebidsI think the 4* Affinia Shelburne in ESB is available for $168 on Hotwire, which seems like a good deal, and perhaps this is as good as anything I'll get through Priceline? I have a backup. Thanks!!
thereuare Posted August 27, 2013 Report Posted August 27, 2013 Where and how much is your back-up reservation? Are you still seeing a 4* hotel in the ESB zone for $168/nite as the 4* hotel in this zone when i search for your dates (8/31-9/3) is priced at $198/nite (and the one offered i don't think is the Affinia Shelbourne)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. A-lo Posted August 27, 2013 Author Report Posted August 27, 2013 My backup is a friend's place on the Upper West Side, so that price is $0!The 4* I saw before on hotline before is gone. It's only listed amenity was Pet Friendly, which is why I thought it could be the Shelbourne, thanks to your super helpful list. I learned my lesson in snatching a good deal in front of you while it's there. There's a 4* now in ESB on Hotwire for $195 which only has Restaurant has an amenity, but it doesn't match any hotel on your hotwire list. Any idea what it could be?I think I will try Priceline again in the same zones I used before.
A-lo Posted August 27, 2013 Author Report Posted August 27, 2013 I got the 4.5* Intercontinental Times Square for $200/night ($732 total). I saw on HOTWIRE that I think this hotel was popping up for $214, so I started bidding 4.5* on PRICELINE in CPS, ESB, MW, & TS, with 4 free rebid areas. I started bidding at $170.I'd rather avoid Times Square but this seems like a good hotel for this price. I used this site's PRICELINE links.
thereuare Posted August 27, 2013 Report Posted August 27, 2013 Congratulations on your success! While not your first choice of zone, glad to see you're pleased with the outcome and this property will work well for your needs.
