kj9827 Posted August 24, 2013 Report Posted August 24, 2013 Hello, We are traveling to Boston from September 19-23 and am looking for bidding help for two rooms. I am looking for a 3.5* in Cambridge East, Boston Common, Copley Square areas. Dont really have a strong preference on location but would hope to end up near a T stop since we will be traveling with older in-laws. Any suggestions as to the best bidding strategy. Prefer to keep budget under $150 per night if possible. Thanks
thereuare Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding!Note that there are parts of Cambridge East that are not that close to a T station... your budget may force you to consider this zone, but generally the 'core' Boston zones are:Copley Square-Back BayBoston Common-Theater DistrictQuincy Market-FinancialFrom there you could also consider Beacon Hill... and thereafter the Seaport-Convention Center zone (this latter zone is not in the 'heart' of things but the zone is not that geographically large and the Silver Line is nearby which can take you more towards the center of things. In light of the information above, please let us know which zone(s) you'd like to include in your first round of bidding and we'll take it from there. (and we will suggest a strategy up to whatever dollar amount you indicate, but i'm based upon current rates i'm guessing you may be looking in the $180-$200 for a 3.5* or better hotel in one of the 'core' areas of the city)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. kj9827 Posted August 25, 2013 Author Report Posted August 25, 2013 Lets look at Cambridge East first and then Boston Common and Copley Square. Would prefer not to go above $175 max so a 3* may be ok.
thereuare Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 Are you willing to pay more for a hotel in the Cambridge East zone vs. the Boston Common zone vs. the Copley zone... or is the goal actually the least expensive hotel in any of these zones within the minimum star level you designate? Are you looking to try at the 3.5* level first or hoping for something lower priced at the 3* level? Please confirm the above and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. kj9827 Posted August 25, 2013 Author Report Posted August 25, 2013 No, I would think that we could get a higher level in Cambridge than in the downtown areas so if I have to pay more I would prefer the Common or Copley zones. The star level doesn't really make a big difference but don't think that I would want below 3*. My main reason for looking at the 3.5* in the Cambridge East area is the Marriott is right next to the T station. The budget is a important issue. Hope I'm not being too confusing!
thereuare Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 I'm not following so let's take one step backwards...What is it (zone(s), star rating, and maximum bid) that you want to try for first? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. kj9827 Posted August 25, 2013 Author Report Posted August 25, 2013 Cambridge East, 3.5*. Second preference Boston Common, 3.5*. Max bid $175
thereuare Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 And are you willing to pay more for a 3.5* in Cambridge East vs. a 3.5* in Boston Common... or is the objective the least expensive 3.5* in either of these zones? Also, note the comments at the top of the Priceline Hotel List, that while the Marriott may be the only 3.5* reported to the board in this zone, there still could be others that are not yet reported (or upgraded/downgraded since last reported)Let us know if you're willing to pay more for one zone vs. the other and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. kj9827 Posted August 25, 2013 Author Report Posted August 25, 2013 No. The zone is not a primary concern since getting around on the T is easy. Just need to stay within the budget.
