wvmountaingirl Posted August 23, 2013 Report Posted August 23, 2013 I am new to this forum and have been trying to gather all the info to make an informed choice. I have baseball tickets on Wed. August 28, and would like to stay in the North Shore - Stadium area of Pittsburgh. I have noticed on the regular prices of hotels that the nightly rate is higher on game day. Should I take this into account when placing a bid on a property or does that not matter if there are vacancies? Thanks for any info you can give me. I assume if I put a 3 star hotel in the North Shore area that I will be happy with any of the three hotels that are located there.
thereuare Posted August 24, 2013 Report Posted August 24, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding!Yes, you need to take into account 'retail' rates for your dates when determining a bidding strategy. As rates in this zone are a bit inflated due to the game, i would also suggest also including 'Downtown' in your bidding as Pittsburgh is not really that geographically large and the Downtown zone is right across will likely still get you relatively close. However, it's a trade-off between convenience and cost, so it's up to you if you want to include both zones in your bidding or not.So we don't suggest a strategy that goes higher then you're willing to pay, what is your maximum budget (before fees/taxes) for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
