Raebee Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 I'm a new bidder and am looking for where to start. I'm thinking I want a 4* or 5* hotel in the strip north vicinity. I really want a 5* but based on the flash sale price I think it's out of my range. Flash sales are $83 for a 4* and 143 for a 5*. Where should I start my bidding and what am I likely to get? Thanks!Rae
thereuare Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding!Note that the Strip North Vicinity is the zone that contains the Trump... i assume what you really want is the Strip North zone? (without the 'Vicinity')So we don't develop a strategy that goes higher then you're willing to pay, what is your maximum bid for this trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Raebee Posted August 22, 2013 Author Report Posted August 22, 2013 Thanks, I totally meant Strip North without the vicinity. I think the max we would be willing to go would be $100 but would be more comfortable around $80 (it depends on if our third person decides to come or not). This is why I'm thinking a 4* might be a better bet but I wasn't sure how far off I probably am from a 5* if the third person confirms then our max budget could go as high as $120. I should hear back tonight and am planning on bidding tomorrow. Thanks for your help.
yellowdog Posted August 23, 2013 Report Posted August 23, 2013 Let us know when your plans are firm and we'll go from there.Have in mind that PRICELINE and PRICELINE EXPRESS only guarantees double occupancy, which means you may receive a room with only one bed and the hotel could assign you a room with only one bed. You could request a room with two beds, but the hotel could be unable, or unwilling, to accommodate your request... or charge an additional fee if they are willing to accommodate you request. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchases and searches.Yellowdog.
Raebee Posted August 23, 2013 Author Report Posted August 23, 2013 Ok our plans are now firm at two people $100 max. Prefer a 5* North or South Strip but not sure if that's possible would take a 4* in North Strip.

Raebee Posted August 24, 2013 Author Report Posted August 24, 2013 so my companion and I decided we really didn't want to go over $84 a night, we just decided we wanted to see some shows and she got us a deal at Luxor for $80 a night (this includes taxes) (we can cancel so I'm still thinking about trying more bids later). See bid history below (no win)Now my decision is is the 4* better than the luxor deal. If I bid $75 a night with taxes things come out to $263 total and the sale with the coupon comes out to $269. I see that luxor is rated a 3.5* in your peoples opinion would it be a better idea to go for a little higher price and try for a 4* in the north strip? I know you can end up with Mirage or TI and one of the shows I kind of want to see is mystere. We haven't bid on the 4* yet cause I was really hoping to get someone's opinion. I'm very new to this vegas thing and this trip was originally supposed to be a bachlorette party but the bride had a work thing come up so she had to cancel. Luckily work covered the ticket but my friend and I didn't want to eat the ticket so we decided to go. Needless to say the budget has dropped considerably since her fiance was originally going to pay for the hotel room as a present. Which Explains all the flip flopping on stuff.I decided to bid up from $60 on a 5* in north strip or south strip up to $84 a night in $2 increments with no luck.
yellowdog Posted August 24, 2013 Report Posted August 24, 2013 I decided to bid up from $60 on a 5* in north strip or south strip up to $84 a night in $2 increments with no luck. You're bidding too low compared to the current rates. I think you're looking at $110-$120 for a 5* both North and South. We haven't bid on the 4* yet cause I was really hoping to get someone's opinion. We all have diffrent taste and needs, but Luxor isn't a great hotel. I would roll the dice for a 4* in the South zone within your budget if you want to stay there. For the North zone is currently TI and Mirage the only 4* hotels reported to the board. TI is the most frequent one reported. Are you open for staying in both North and South zone?Let us know and we'll go from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchases and searches.Yellowdog.
Raebee Posted August 25, 2013 Author Report Posted August 25, 2013 I think we'd rather stay north zone if south zone is rolling the dice. What are the hotels in the south zone? I think if they're bad we might just spend the money and bid all the way up to the flash sale price in the north zone and if that doesn't work taking the flash sale.
AaronJB Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 If you click the "Can't Find What You're Looking For?" box in the upper corner and then click "See Hotel Lists", you can see the hotels reported to the board on PRICELINE and HOTWIRE in Nevada.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Raebee Posted August 25, 2013 Author Report Posted August 25, 2013 I think we want to stick with north strip the main reason we were looking a possibly a different hotel is because do location. We are willing to bid up to $75 a night after that I think we'll go with the flash sale. If the coupon code is still valid.
thereuare Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 When bidding 4* in Las Vegas you have FOUR re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Strip North...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $68, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $73, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75If the above is rejected note that HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the Strip North zone for $82/nite (your price may differ slightly be a few dollars) with:Resort Free Parking Casino Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Golf Tennis Spa Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking Roll-in Shower ... my best guess for this one would be Treasure Island (with a slight chance of the Mirage). You'll have to decide if this would be worth another ~$5/nite over the Luxor (as most would likely consider the Treasure Island a better value/property)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help.
