jclaxton01 Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 Need a hotel in NYC for two separate nights - 9/6 and then 9/8. Would really love a 4.5* and would like recommendations on bidding strategies for best price. Is it realistic to find something bidding through priceline for $200 or under? Any help is appreciated!

thereuare Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 There is currently no 4.5* bidding offered in the UWS so we will not include that zone in a bidding strategy, leaving:MTE, MTW, CPS, UES, Soho, TSAt current rates it think $200 may fall short for a 4.5* property, although you may be able t get something in the $220-$240 range, but as you have a little time we will start at $200 and if rejected you can the decide if you then want to try for a 4* property OR increase your maximum bid. When bidding 4.5* in NYC you have SEVEN re-bid zones. jclaxton01 Posted August 28, 2013 Author Report Posted August 28, 2013 Went through all this today with no luck up to $203. I'll try again tomorrow. What would the strategy be if I decided to push my acceptable price up to $220 for a 4*?

Use the discount code link in my signature for 10% off effectively bringing the room rate equivalent to a $211/nite bid. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. jclaxton01 Posted August 29, 2013 Author Report Posted August 29, 2013 Thanks so much. I'll try again tonight and keep you posted. Any idea what that 4.5* would be you suggested on the PRICELINE EXPRESS option?
thereuare Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 It looks like that offer is no longer available and now the 4.5* in the MTW zone is priced at $254 and has more amenities (Pets Allowed, Restaurant, Free Internet, Fitness Center)... there is also a 4.5* in the Times Square zone for $260... both of which you can take 10% off with the discount code in my signature. If you plan on bidding first at the 4.5* level let's try that first since as you can see the PRICELINE EXPRESS offers can change quickly, and thse may not be the hotel(s) offered once you're ready to go down that path. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck! AaronJB Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 If there is a PRICELINE Express deal for $254 and the coupon takes 10% off, the total would be $228.60, so I wouldn't go much higher.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
jclaxton01 Posted August 29, 2013 Author Report Posted August 29, 2013 I'm looking at one that is Midtown West, 4.5*, guest fav, 9.0 rating and lists free Internet, Restaurant and Fitness center. Any idea what that one might be?
jclaxton01 Posted August 29, 2013 Author Report Posted August 29, 2013 I went ahead and booked the PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal I mentioned in my last post and used the 10% off coupon for a net nightly rate of $210.60. It ended up being the Royalton. We've never stayed there before and love boutique hotels so I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for your help!
thereuare Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 Congratulations on your success! Hope you're pleased with the purchase and looking forward to your trip. This hotel is known for their lobby bar (which doesn't feel like a bar at all) so if you like to have a cocktail or a glass of wine this would be a good spot to plan one (or two ;) )Can you confirm if the above were the only three amenities that PRICELINE EXPRESS associated with the property or do you recall if there was also a PET FRIENDLY amenity too?Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding. Enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
jclaxton01 Posted September 6, 2013 Author Report Posted September 6, 2013 Yes! Those were the only 3 amenities listed. Looking forward to the trip - thanks for your help!
