Hotwire Hotel: 3.5* Mount Vernon - Burlington Best Western Plus Cottontree Inn

A good place to start a hotel search is using betterbidding.com! I'm going to link to Priceline since I'm currently annoyed with HOTWIRE.

I did a quick search of both PRICELINE and HOTWIRE for Mount Vernon, Washington. Priceline had a high star rating of 2.5*, but hotwire had a 3.5* listed. So, I went with hotwire thinking I would get a better hotel. When the hotel appeared, I won the Best Western Plus. This hotel is rated 2.5* on priceline. Futher, the list of hotels that hotwire lists as examples of 3.5* hotels are generally much more upscale (ie Crown Plaza, Hyatt). I should have searched the Mount Vernon area-I would have seen that none of these hotels are there. I haven't used hotwire in a long time, but feel like this star rating system is quite deceptive. I won't be booking through hotwire again. (I called customer service and they were not sympathetic. They explained that their star ratings are highly dependent on how satisfied previous customers were.)

The good news is that the hotel gets pretty good reviews. I would have been happy with this as a 2.5* choice.

Sorry to see you're disappointed with the star rating of this property, but hopefully with the positive reviews you'll be surprised to the upside. In future feel free to ask the board for help before making your opaque purchase as we can have a look and see if we can take a guess as to which hotel it may be that is offered.
