abeyst Posted August 15, 2013 Report Posted August 15, 2013 I'm having trouble ID'ing this, with such a small list. (Yes, I used your tricks to pull up the bigger list, but this is it.)95% recommended, $126/nightFitness CenterPool(s)Restaurant(s)Business CenterHigh-Speed Internet AccessIt's the first trip for me and my 2 kids (14,10), so I want to make it a great trip (and save money for having fun!)
yellowdog Posted August 15, 2013 Report Posted August 15, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding :) Best guess would be Doubletree by Hilton Chicago Magnificent Mile. Please remember to use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board and let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help with this stay.Yellowdog.PS. please remember to follow-up this thread with whatever you end up doing for this trip, even if you don't use PRICELINE or HOTWIRE, cancel the trip, book direct, etc.
abeyst Posted August 16, 2013 Author Report Posted August 16, 2013 Thank you. That's what I was thinking, too, but the 95% recommended threw me off-it seemed too high. Now the price is up to $136/night. I found another hotel - 4.5* in the Grant Park Loop for $157/night. I think it's Swissotel?Indoor Pool(s)Pool(s)Smoke Free RoomsRestaurant(s)Tennis NearbyFitness CenterBusiness CenterWhich one would you recommend? It's our first trip to Chicago, and we won't be staying out late or clubbing. Just seeing the sights, a day of shopping, the usual.
yellowdog Posted August 16, 2013 Report Posted August 16, 2013 Do you also see High-Speed Internet Access listed for this property? If yes my guess would be the Swissotel.Which one would you recommend? AaronJB Posted August 16, 2013 Report Posted August 16, 2013 Both properties are fairly similar in terms of location. Both are right near the river, one on the South side of the river, the other a couple of blocks North of the river at about the same point. The Doubletree is a nice property - it's a Doubletree and is what you would expect from a large city Doubletree. I'd say the Swiss is more accurately a 4*, but it's a solid 4*.I'm also seeing what appears to be the Public Hotel for $141. That's not a family-friendly property and more of a boutique, but it's a reasonable walk from there up to the Lincoln Park Zoo and then the Peggy Notabert Nature Center is just a block North of the top end of the Zoo. It's a ways from the museum campus, though, although there are public transit options. I would recommend the Zoo even if you don't stay at the Public - it's a very nice zoo (and free.)Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
abeyst Posted August 21, 2013 Author Report Posted August 21, 2013 I about fell over when I saw this price for a 4.5*. It's a good deal, right?
