Romelle Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 I'm a member, not anybody official, but thought I'd help you take the first step toward getting specific help. The board keeps each separate city/date stay in a separate thread. When a multiple stay post like yours comes in, the post is used for the first stay (your Paris one in this case), and then the member is asked to start separate posts for each of the other stays. Also, the member is asked to keep everything in US dollars to cut down on confusion. With Nice, there is only one zone for the city and another one for the airport. When bidding via Priceline, you have to be willing to accept a hotel anywhere within that zone, at the star level you are bidding or higher. With Venice, there are some lovely hotels on Lido, and Murano is where the actual glass blowing work is done. Might be worth considering, as they are only a gondola ride away from the island of Venice? For bidding just Venice, it is a single zone so you have to be willing to accept anywhere on the island.I can't quite recall, but I'm assuming you've done your homework and both Ufizzi and Duomo are in the Florence Central zone?I'm assuming you mean Piazza Navona rather than Venona? And since I'm meddling anyway, I'd cut out Nice and throw those days all toward Venice. But I particularly love Venice, having once spent 6 nights there in a youth hostel so I could afford and have enough time to pick the perfect chandelier for my home...... Feel free to ignore this bit of advice as I'm admittedly biased, both toward Venice and toward more in-depth visits. Nice has lots of interesting things also.Sounds like a wonderful trip!Romelle
thereuare Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 What she said :lol:Welcome to BetterBidding!I will also add to please state your bid amounts in US Dollars... although the exchange rage may be close to par today, this thread will be used by others in the future for years to come and currency conversions at that time may be very different then they are today. We will use this thread for your Paris stay... for this leg of what is your maximum bid in US Dollars? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. vinnymackbambi Posted August 22, 2013 Author Report Posted August 22, 2013 Hi all,Thank you again for the tips and help. I really appreciate this as it is my wife and my first time in Europe, the reason why I chose to go Nice is that I promised my wife we would watch the sun rise and set over the Mediterranean 10 yrs ago. I'm finally living up to that promise. :) but will keep Venice in mind.In Paris, we are thinking St. germain or Latin Quarters is the best choice as it is close to the centre. I would say for a 4* we are willing to spend up to $130 usd per night.Thank you, V
thereuare Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 At current rates i don't think that $130 will be enough for a 4* hotel in one of these two zones, but if you want to give it a try, you can do so as follows:When bidding 4* in Paris you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* St. Germain...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* Latin Quarter...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* St. Germain and Latin Quarter...Bid $118, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $123, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $128, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130Any questions feel free to ask. If the above is rejected, i would consider the Champs Elysees-Arc De Triomphe zone and see if that would be acceptable, as while $130 still may be a bit of a challenge, it may be one of your better shots at the 4* level at or near $130.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Romelle Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 Wonderful reason! I think every trip should have some clearly defined goals. Mine to England was so I could "...drink a pint of bitters in a pub".Romelle
