nilkaya Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 This was my first time bidding for a 2* hotel using priceline and I don't think I am going to do it again. For $25/night the hotel seemed reasonable but I discovered that roomsaver.com had a coupon for this hotel for $29/night. Although the coupon states that on weekends there might be a higher price as we stayed in late September-early October, even during the weekend there were plenty of rooms available. I cannot complain much about the room except the smell. It smelled like chemicals and mildew. No matter how long we had the fan and AC on the smell did not go away. Our friends' room smelled less, but there was still a smell. (We stayed at room 1047 and they stayed at room 1046). The furniture were new, the sheets and towels were OK. The carpet seemed a little bit dirty. The bathroom tiles seemed new, but still there was some rust near the door and the wall near the sink was a little bit dirty. The hotel provided hair-dryer but no iron or ironing board. We were also provided with soap and shampoo but no hair-conditioner. I learned that all rooms had two full/quenn size beds (no king size beds). When checking in we signed a document stating that we were not going to use the phone or the safe in the room (extra charge for them). The breakfast buffett at the hotel costed $3.99 (kids eat free). My friends did not like the buffett so we went to Western Sizzling across the street on the corner, which was the same price for adults and costed $2.99 for kids. The hotel is near "Old Town," and based on the advice of a hotel employee we ate at Paddler's Pizza twice we liked its pizza, wings, pastas and sandwiches. The best thing about this hotel that shows its age is the pool. Our rooms looked directly to the pool, (which had a bar) we ate our breakfast two times in this area (as there is no tables in the rooms except a study table) and our friends' kid swam there in the mornings and at night. The hotel and the pool was relatively full on the Saturday night we stayed there and he could hear people making noises all night long. Overall, except the smell everything was fine with us (even the beds that made noises when we sat or lay on them). I don't think I would stay in this hotel again with priceline.
