Thinking about doing Priceline to try and get a better hotel at hopefully a bargain price. Never used priceline before and would ideally like to stay in Times Square or Empire building areas, I have been to NYC before but it is my daughters first time. Any tips, what sort of prices etc should I bid? Ideally would like 4 star if possible.

Welcome to Betterbidding.

This is right on the border between one of the busiest periods of the year (12/1-15 +/- a few days) and a couple of weeks that are slower (12/16-29 or so.) I'd suggest considering areas aside from Times Square, which tends to be the busiest and most expensive zone. Midtown East is right by the ESB zone and is a zone worth consideration.

What would be your desired budget per night for this stay?

but thats it! Dates 16th - 19th Dec. £235 to £90 GBP prices quoted. Any ideas? Clicked through the link on this site.

Please change the drop down menu on the top right of HOTWIRE's page to United States and the currency dropdown to US Dollars. Then continue to search HOTWIRE and post to the board in US Dollars so that rates are consistent and not subject to interpretation due to future currency fluctuation. Once you're ready to purchase stay on the US version of their site and simply change the drop down menu to whatever currency you'd like to use and complete your purchase.

Additionally, just to confirm, there's no amenities showing?

No that was all the information that was given, no amenities or anything! Very frustrating! That seems a really good discount, it is supposed to be 4 star so I presume it can't be that bad......can it???

Thank you, I suppose I don't really want to pay more than £500 GBP max for the 3 nights, if possible. The less the better!

I get this when I searching for 2 adults for your dates,

Boutique Hotel

Restaurant(s)

Laundry Facilities (self-service)

How many adults/children/rooms did you search for?

Try this,

HOTWIRE has a new interface which is not currently showing the complete set of amenities at the usual point of the search process.

This workaround has been successful in order to see the complete set of amenities:

· use this link to search HOTWIRE

· from the search results page click the offer for this hotel

· on the next page click BOOK NOW (no worries about purchasing by accident since no credit card information is entered up to this point)

· on the left side of the page click the 'See all amenities' link

This should show you the full list of amenities associated with each offer.

Also, please post in USD when talking rates/budget etc..

Yellowdog.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchases and searches.

Must have been the UK site, will try the US one

The UK site does show different listings at times. In general though, without any amenities showing it's not possible to narrow down which hotel it may be.
