Jmmp Posted August 16, 2013 Report Posted August 16, 2013 Hi all,Our group of four is searching for two hotel rooms in New York City for Oct 16-20, 2013 (Wed-Sun).We are hoping to stay in either Times Square, SoHo, or other area in close proximity to midtown (open to suggestions!).We want a minimum 4 star room. Our goal is to find two rooms at 200.00 per night.Does this sound possible? If so, how would you go about bidding? I would appreciate any feedback, strategies, or other assistance anyone could provide! Thanks in advance!
thereuare Posted August 16, 2013 Report Posted August 16, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please start by reading your messages and clicking each of these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links... then reply to this thread and we'll have a look at your post above. How many total guests will be in your group? Also, note that Soho is considered more to be 'downtown' than 'midtown'.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Jmmp Posted August 16, 2013 Author Report Posted August 16, 2013 Hi!There are four of us; requring 2 hotel rooms. We are flexible in hotel zones, but would like to be no further "south" than SoHo and no further "north" than Times Square. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
thereuare Posted August 16, 2013 Report Posted August 16, 2013 In midtown i would suggest the following zones at the 4* or higher level:CPS, Chelsea, ESB, MSG, MTW, Soho, TSYou could also include MTE in your bidding but note that although not won in awhile, the ONE UN New York is now 4* rated by PRICELINE and can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway, so you'll need to decide if this is acceptable or not. Also, note that CPS is north of Times Square, but it's still very much considered 'midtown' and would still be a very convenient location, imo. Please confirm which zone(s) you're willing to accept and we'll advise accordingly. Jmmp Posted August 23, 2013 Author Report Posted August 23, 2013 Hi!Sorry for the delay in responding...we've talked it over and decided we are are open to any of the zones you've suggested. However, we would like to try for a 4.5 star property instead of a 4 star. Our target budget is 225/night including taxes/fees, but we might be willing to budge a bit if necessary.Any bidding advice is appreciated! Thanks!

Jmmp Posted August 24, 2013 Author Report Posted August 24, 2013 Hi,I have clicked each of the links and will use them to book travel, but am hoping for a strategy before I attempt to book.Thank you!
thereuare Posted August 24, 2013 Report Posted August 24, 2013 I think your budget is going to be very tough for a 4.5* property... may very well be tough for a 4* hotel for these dates as well at current levels. If you want to give it a try:Note that there are currently no 4.5* hotels offered in the MSG zone so we will not include that in the bidding strategy, leaving you with CPS, Chelsea, ESB, MTW, Soho, TS as acceptable zones. When bidding 4.5* in NYC you have SEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4.5* Chelsea, ESB, MSG, MTW, Soho, TS...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4.5* CPS...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4.5* Chelsea, ESB, MSG, MTW, Soho, TS, CPS...Bid $178, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $183, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $188, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $193, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $195Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
