Caalie Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 Want to bid on 4 or 5* hotel in Manhattan, not in Times Square or Convention center. Will consider, maybe even prefer, splitting trip between two hotels in different areas. Any suggestions?
AaronJB Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 Welcome to Betterbidding. What would be your desired budget per night for this stay and would any other Manhattan zone/s aside from Times Square and MSG (there's no convention center zone, MSG is the closest) be acceptable?Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 ...not in Times Square or Convention center.Which zones, by PRICELINE name, are you willing to accept? Also, if you haven't yet, please read your messages. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Thanks. Caalie Posted August 14, 2013 Author Report Posted August 14, 2013 I would like to keep it under 200 per night, could go to 225 if necessary.. CPS, Chelsea, UES, UWS, SoHo, MTE, MTW, LES, Downtown are all fine, but would reconsider if there are some areas that I should avoid because of a specific hotel.
thereuare Posted August 15, 2013 Report Posted August 15, 2013 I believe the UN is in session during this timeframe which usually translates to very expensive hotel rates... even $200 may not be enough.Did you want to try for the least expensive 4* or better for this stay? One UN New York is now 4* rated and in the MTE zone and can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway, would this be an acceptable outcome? (or should we exclude this zone from your bidding?)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Caalie Posted August 15, 2013 Author Report Posted August 15, 2013 I think I'll pass on MTE 4*. I'd like to try for a pricier nicer hotel if possible.
thereuare Posted August 15, 2013 Report Posted August 15, 2013 It's not surprising given the proximity to the UN, but although more the exception then the rule, we have seen hotels won on PRICELINE when the hotel was otherwise showing a sold-out condition... do you want to include MTE in your bidding on the assumption you won't received the sold-out One UN New York and have a chance at one of the other 4* hotels in the zone, OR do you want to avoid this zone entirely? Please confirm and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thereuare Posted August 15, 2013 Report Posted August 15, 2013 At current rates I think $200 (and possibly even $225) is going to be tough for these dates, but you can try the following:When bidding 4* in NYC you have TWO re-bid zones. Caalie Posted August 15, 2013 Author Report Posted August 15, 2013 I'm confused about closing browser and using link, Priceline says need to wait 24 hours. Is there a way around this?
thereuare Posted August 15, 2013 Report Posted August 15, 2013 If you follow the strategy exactly as posted you can make all of those bids in the same bidding session. If you have tried this and received a duplicate bid message, what are you using for your TWO re-bid zones? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
